I have been searching the forums and finding little info on a gear swap on my 2013 1500 express 4x4. I know there has been conversations on here before but I have had little luck finding them. I want to go to a 4.56 but I don't know what can and cant be done on the new diffs. the local diff shop says they have done the 2wds with factory ring sets but has not done a 4wd. what are my options? I need more power to turn my 38s. Im going to put a tuner from hemifever and 87mm TB soon. Im wondering how much the tuner and TB will help until I get the gears. Im sure I will hear something about it but Im currently running a 3.55 I know I know. 38s and 3.55? But fact of the matter is I just found out the gear ratio.

You need to swap out the front diff with 09-10 diff and the rear might be able to be machined to accept the 4.56 ring and pinion.

There is a member on here by fastnugly that has done the whole gear swap. I believe his truck was a 12' I would contact him. There is a thread on it I can't find it through tapatalk though.

well I have found some stuff on it. It looks like 2012 and up still has to use 3.92 or swap the front with 06 -11. unless someone knows different. is 3.92 worth going to from 3.55 with 38s or should I say screw it and just do the tuner TB and long tubes and see what it does?

the 09-10 front diffs will accept the 4.56 with no modifications?

For the 09-10 there is no issues in the front and rear

The problem with 11 and newer (rear carrier) there is no posi available except for the stock. LSD. As for the front anything 09-11, aftermarket gears line up. Rear for and 11 and newer require machining.

It's not a cheap mod, but we'll worth it.
I was the first 12 to get it done and it's been nearing 2 years without a hitch and truck hauls :naughty:

If you install a '09-'10 front diff you will also need to change the diff brackets for the lift kit

youll notice a power difference.....I finally got my rear end done for the second time....big difference going from a 3.55 to a 4.56.....take off is quicker and easier and you save more gas (if driven right)

You will need the yoke too or get the shop to fab yours up to work.
