I'm very sorry to hear this OP
Ironically I had something similar happen to my 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7H.O. I was under cruise, hit the brakes harder than usual to slow down for a stop sign approaching (winter time) and the jeep instantly started stumbling. The CEL came on immediately and it ran rough all the way home. I got home, read the codes and it was a missfire. Long story short, one of of the valves dropped in the head causing 0 compression in cyl. #7. Since parts were basically nowhere to be found for the H.O. 4.7 I ended up trading in the Jeep.
I was doing about 105 km/hr prior to braking. Was my valve problem related to aggressive braking??? Who knows. Its just a story and I thought I'd share. I miss that Jeep.
