How long did you wait before popping the mould out of the truck?

Depending in the climate. I did it in the winter and it was curing in the truck which was parked outside. 24 hours is usually safe. The warmer the weather the shorter the cure time. Do not forcr the cure time by trying to heat it up. bit won't work andnyou'll get warpage.

It also depends on the thickness of the mould. I did about 3 layers in the truck. Then when I popped it out, I added 4 more. I make my resin a little hotter than normal to try to speed the set up time, but be careful doing that if you dont have much experience.

MDF, fiberglass, kitty hair, carpet. That's about it.

I'm assuming you're getting ready to do this? Post pics if you do, I love watching people's builds! Good Luck and you can always hit me up if you have questions.

I've got a few tips if you're going to build a glass box:

1: Gloves. Get a box, and use plenty of them.
2: Long Sleeve Shirt, just do it.
3: Cut your fiberglass far away from the truck! (I cut it right next to it, still removing stupid little strands from the interior!)
3.5: Cut far more glass than you think you'll need. You'll see
4: Get good resin. I had great luck with the stuff from US Composites, you will too!
5: Don't try this when it's cool or humid. It sucks. Wait till it's warm.
6: Start in the morning! You can get all the 'in truck' coats done in one day, very easily. Be sure to follow up on re-coating partially cured fiberglass so you get good adhesion!
7: Have fun with it. It's a pretty rewarding project.

Can't remember how much mat, but I think I finished a gallon of resin and used some from a second gallon.

There are pics on that. I removed the factory sub system, wire tapped into those wires and hid the LOC under the carpet and inside the frame of the truck.

Awesome thread and write up. I wanna try my hand at making fiberglass enclosures for my CC. Can you tell me where you bought your supplies, how much you bought, and what you bought?

Anyone else that has done this please chime in with pointers and supplies that you think I will need.

I just built a set for my CC. I used about 32 sq/ft of fiberglass mat and 1\2 gallon of resin. There is a link to my build in my Sig below if you are interested.

yeah I read your build and I am gonna mirror a lot of the steps you took. Great write up by the way. Where did you buy your resin and fiberglass from? I assume fiberglass is also referred to as kitty hair, is that correct?
