I've got the 2016 Rebel with the Rambox (The Rambox is a must for my lifestyle). A lot of people don't like the size, but since my last three "trucks" were a 2006 Ridgeline and a 2002 Avalance and a 2001 Sonoma, I'm accustomed to a smaller bed and it hauls all I want to haul. On the odd time I need to haul more, I hook up a trailer. The Alpine sound system in the Rebel is the *******!
The only drawback to the Rebel is the absurdly slow air suspension. The multiple heights are nice for entry and off-road, etc...but if you forget to make your entry height selection at the point you drop below 17 MPH (while pulling in the driveway or into a parking lot), you have to wait, and wait, and wait for it to lower to the correct height. And if a passenger opens the door while it's raising or lowering, it stops and a location in between the sensors and sometimes has trouble figuring out where to go next. If those low-rider guys can make air suspension that lower and raise their cars in fractions of a second, certainly RAM could have designed a system that moves over the extent of travel in under 10 seconds. In reality, it take 30 seconds most times.
Other problems with the height is that if you're in "off road" and load up the bed with firewood, it will automatically lower. When you're out in the woods loading up firewood, on uneven surfaces, this can be troublesome. Also, if you to in the woods on "off-road" and park on a slope or with one wheel extended more than the others, the truck won't lower, and you have to fall out of the truck to get to the ground. Not and issue for youngsters for an old geezer in his 50's (with chronically bad ankles), this really sucks. Anther issue with the air suspension is when it's really cold (like below 20F, and you've been commuting in frozen road slush) and the suspension is all coated with ice and road crud, the system won't read the sensors and the air suspension won't move. I have to pull into the garage (like normal), fall out of the truck, and come back to the garage in about an hour, when the ice has melted, and hit the "lower" button on the fob, and it will move correctly. The Air suspension is nice when it works, (but slow) but it doesn't always work in all of the conditions that you might need it to.
My UConnect will "hiccup" when you first turn it on. That is, when the radio or music (I use the SD card alot) begin, it will stop for a second, start again, and sometimes do it a second time. It's done this every single time from the time it's been new. Not worth having someone look at it...just annoying for a truck this expensive.
EVERYTHING else about the truck has been magnificent. I take it from Western PA to Maine every fall, off the grid cabin camping/hunting (last year towing a 4x8 u-haul trailer). This thing is a comfortable highway cruizer, even when towing and loaded with passengers. And I still got 15 MPG. It's my daily commuter from November to March (I drive a HEMI Challenger from March to November) and it's my chores/weekend warrior truck the rest of the time. Looks great, sounds great, turns heads, and it's NOT the same as every 1500 out there. Get one.
