I have a 2004 ram tradesman 1500 with 280000 miles on an 4.7 and a 2004 ram Laramie 2500 diesel with 193000 miles and I owe 6K on the 2500. Both are quad cabs
I may be pulling a popup camper in the future both could handle.
I need to sell one of them. Thoughts?

The oil burner. It isn't going to work as hard (not knowing the size/weight of your camper) as the 4.7 would, especially if you decide to tow something heavier in the future. As mentioned, still a whole lotta life left in that diesel, whereas I am actually surprised you got that kind of mileage out of a 4.7; it has happened but it is generally rare.

Thanks for your thoughts. That is the direction we are heading. I like the looks and way the 1500 drives but at best it has 20k before I have to take a trip to my friendly local junkyard.

What impressed me most about the Diesel was I was pullling an 8000 pound trailer and the fuel pump died and it kept running all the way to the shop.

You asked how much I would be towing. A popup weighs 2500-3000 but we may want to rent a big trailer every now and then which is an argument for the diesel. Also not wild about driving a beater with a runout 4.7 very far.

I would consider the resale value of each and the 2500 would by far be a higher value and therefore would get sold, if it were me

Keep the Cummins, and if it has the HO 24v (2004.5)... Absolutely keep the Cummins. Since you might occasionally tow a larger trailer, remember, "A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush."

I sold my 2004.5 2500 SLT QCSB 4x4 Auto 5 years after I bought it brand new, owing less than 10k on it. Only had 65k on the clock.
