I got started on gathering my parts for the swap. So i figured i would make a thread showing my progress and prices.

Ordered:
2009 Front Diff - $340
06-11 Right output shaft(extra...unfortunately)- $161.59 <--avoidable expense
Motive Front master rebuild timken bearings - $145
Motive 4.56 Front gears - $200
ZF Lsd - $285 - thanks jcstacey
4.56 moes motive zf rear gears - $279 thanks matt!
rear master rebuild kit - $99.99
55-05-4594………….…front diff. bracket, driver / rear $32.79+15 shipping :( - superlift

Need to order:
Nothing!

Total: $1558.37+/-
+install

For a quick minute i actually thought about trying to do the front diff myself since it will be out and i can take my time, but i dont want to screw anything up. Couldn't find a video for the 8" diff specifically either

One of my jeep buddies is actually a professional mechanic and even he still has the gears installed for him. We've literally built suspension parts in the garage but there is just too much to ensuring the contact pattern is correct with appropriate backlash, bearing tension etc..

I did it on my '92 RC. You'll like the get-up-&-GOfactor once done, and with a more modern truck, newer engine, lower miles, etc., you'll hafta be careful not to crush cars at stoplights when you hit the gas! icon6.gif

Hahah I can't wait. Honestly it doesn't feel weak and I can still accidentally smoke the tires with the 3.55s and 37s. So when I get the lsd and 4.56s...ohhhhh boy will I have to watch myself.

It should be worth the 2.5-3 grand I'll be spending LOL

Yeah that's what I'd be worried about. Maybe one day when I'm more experienced I'll try doing it on something older, for now I'll just drain my bank account [emoji23]

Side note, I can't figure out if I'll need older cv shafts. Some people say yes some say no

got my front diff and lsd today (thanks jcstacey)

but im kind of pissed off about the differential. I got it for 340 shipped but when i opened it up its missing the right(passenger side) output shaft...yet the ebay ad said no such thing.

I messaged them tonight, ill see what they have to say. Its really annoying since the output shaft new(all i can find) is like 170-200....and who knows what else ill need now.

So the wonderful people in ebay are saying that the right output shaft is a bonus piece when buying a differential. ******* now I'll have to find a used one or try to fit the 14 output shaft into the 09

So what are the plans for the front diff out of your truck? I might be interested............for research purposes.

So now that I have the differential I was able to see some differences that I'm not sure how I will fix without custom brackets which is more $$$ lmao

People who have done this swap feel free to chime in.

I can order every superlift bracket for the 09 lift but the angle will still be off(see the pics)

What baffles me is the driver side bracket part numbers are the same for the 09-11 superlift and the 12-16 lift..but obviously they are different.

09 diff

Diff on my 14..tough to get a pic

That's the rear drivers side, it's on a angle not straight like the 09

At least you know where to get the 3rd member bracket from , thanks to ( the goldenone )

i tried getting him to get one made for me but he never answered. Shame.

Im not sure why the superlift brackets are the same, makes no sense. Im not sure if i want to use a rcx bracket because of the potential difference in geometry between the lifts. Although since it will need to be cut and welded anyway maybe that wouldn't matter.

Did you try "Billy" at Gears Unlimited in KC , Mo.

http://www.ramforum.com/showthread.php?p=1197265

Probably right since it would require cutting & re welding it wouldn't matter rcx or superlift brackets .
Would be nice to get Billy to make you one though !

If you get Billy on the phone , he could confirm the CV shafts as well , and if you still need the passenger side components not received from the ebay seller he may locate that for you as well , could be a one stop shop !

Hell where are you located ? May be worth going there for the work and just doing the 500 mile oil change & inspection yourself or at another shop near you that Billy may recommend. .. just a thought .

Just seen your in Jersey , should be plenty of shops to choose from there to get this kind of work done , you may have to take out another mortgage on your home or sell your first born
But with people crowded like ants in that part of the country there should be plenty of reputable gear head shops in close proximity.

good call I didnt even think of calling the guy myself! But yes i have a shop lined up but they dont know that they'll need to weld a bracket together yet. Things like that definitely aren't cheap over here!

Update from billy, i emailed him since i didnt have time to call him. Haven't discussed getting a bracket shipped to me yet but he said the cv shafts are the same and all i need to do is switch the drive shaft yoke. So im guessing that the driveshaft yoke from the 14 dif will fit on the 09 diff
