Hello Rammies!!
Stupid question here....I got a 2011 1500 Sport that came from teh factory with a 3.92 rear end. Is this good or bad? I hear most people have the 3.55 rear end.

3.92 gears are a little better for towing but run a higher rpm at a given speed resulting in a little lower highway fuel economy.
I chose 3.92s intentionally

My 2011 R/T has 4:11 gears and I got 21mpg at 70+ mph when I drove it home from NC. So don't worry about the mileage.

Not concerned with the MPG. Looking to boost performance mods soon...next up is a set of long tube headers and a tuner.

It is way good, I have always hated my 3.55's and when I drove my friends 3.92's I was happy. The 545 just needs better rpm's that 3.92's provide. Low rpm is a enemy of engines, so yeah those are way good. Now, if you go over 35's on tires, you will want even higher rpm bands. Kinda sucks the next year they got the 6 speed, even better with 3,92s.

Even though I briefly had my 2011 5.7l with 545rfe and 3.92s in which it was not shifting so good when cold, when it was warm the trans was great. Odd shift patterns but could have been the solenoid pack going bad.

3.92 tows stronger, takes off faster from a Standing Start, & climbs a hill faster than a 3.55 or a 3.21.
But it also uses a bit more fuel

I am suffering this issue right now. Slips in first gear when I put into D but if I shift manually, she drives fine. P0731 code.

That is a problem, usually od goes first and that is very fixable. How is fluid level and color?

Did a complete flush and fill. Replaced all 3 external sensors already. Next up is the shift solenoid inside the trans pan. If that doesnt work I have to wait and spring for a new trans I think

As i stated in your other thread, trade it off on a newer truck with an 8 speed,or plan to swap your RFE to an 8 speed.Your RFE is not a high performance transmission, you can throw 1,000's of dollars at it,and it's still not a good transmission. Lots of guys have spent big bucks trying to make an RFE last behind a healthy 5.7,only to give up after a couple of high dollar transmissions, and swap to the 8 speed. Don't spend any money on that transmission,it's a lost cause.Join high performance rams and tuned rams on facebook and start asking questions there,as here all you'll get is guys telling you to spend money on trying to heal your RFE
