I have a ram 1500 ecodiesel that has a 6inch lift sitting on 35x12.5r20. I am getting new rims but I’m not sure if I should just get new rims and keep my tires (10,000 miles on them) or go with 35/37x12.5 on 17 inch rims. I would love to hear y’alls thoughts about making the switch to a beefier set up! Also the mileage aspects of it as well, I am averaging about 18mpg+ now. Here is a couple of pictures of the truck.

I definitely like the look of a large sidewall (small wheels), I have 18s with 35s and if I did it over again I would probly do 17s instead. Right now I'm looking for wheels for my sierra, either 15s or 16s on it. That said, you will get a little better mileage with the 20s. Mine went down noticeably when I went from 33s on 20s to my current 35s on 18s, but I don't know how much of that was the smaller wheel and how much of that was the larger tire. Since you are already on 35s you may not notice much change.

Looks like you posted in the wrong section if you're running 17" wheels. 18" is the smallest wheel you can fit on a 5th gen, and then not all 18" will work.

I have a Jeep and do a lot of wheeling, so always want the smallest wheel and largest tire I can get. That said, I'm still undecided on getting an 18" or 20" when I get wheels. I'd prefer the 18", but don't want to worry about tire shops not getting the weights in the right place. Figure it's something you tell the guy in the main office, but he might not tell the guy doing the actual work.

Still considering looking for some Rebel take offs though. When I'm ready, if I can find a set with good tread at a decent price, might go that route.

If 17" will work on yours, that's what I'd do.
