I bought a 360 for $150 that is bran new. The guy didn't know anything about it. It appears to b built by all parker performance engines. They told me all the info is under customer name and vehicle info. So I was wondering how do I decode the numbers on the drivers side of the block under the cylinder head to find out what year it is and what vehicle it came in originally?

The year of manufacture should be cast into the block on the passenger's side just behind the motor mount. To determine what kind of vehicle it came out of I think you need the VIN#. '68-'80 it will be the first letter/number of the VIN, '81-'09 the third letter/number. Both my '85 and '06 Rams have a number 7 in the third place of the VIN.

OK there is a date on passenger side but wasn't sure about it my cousins 318 says 3-7-74 and mine was 27-3-79 so I wasn't for sure that was the date since the numbers were not month day and year on mine.
