not enough difference in mpg to make it worth losing the 4x4 capability. My express has the part time case though so I can force 2wd. I drive 85% city and am averaging about 16 with a heavy foot. hemi/8spd/3.21. 3.92s I would think wouldn't affect the MPG all that much, and I wish I had gotten them in terms of towing/hauling advantages.

Once you lift it and put bigger tires you'll prolly want the 3.92s

8 speed with the factory 20 inch rims and 3.92 and i get about 25mpg(US) highway. i don't have exact for city but it's like half

most important part is to have a light foot so basically accelerate slowly and stick to the speed limits

What's the final drive in the 8 speed vs the 5 speed? My truck with 4wd and 3.92 gears gets 17 hwy 13 city. It's a quad cab 2011 outdoorsman with just a leveling kit.

Then how the hell are people getting over 20 mpg on the hwy vs my 17 mpg? I travel 65, 70, even 75 and it gets 17.x mpg.

for me it's probably due to the lower speed limits. most roads here are 80km/h with a few being 90km/h and major highways being 100km/h. most of my driving is on 80km/h roads so the rpms stay lower

My recent acquisition- '14 Big Horn 4X4 Crew Cab 5.7, 8-speed, 3.21, is gettin 24-25 on highway, 18-20 combined.

Better than my previous '13 Express (crew/2X4/5.7, 3.92, 6spd)

The best mine has averaged is 17.9 in 12000 miles. Going 65 I can get 21 to 22 mpg's if it is flat ground and a decent temp outside. During the winter months I averaged 13.5 or so. That is a long wheel base outdoorsman 4x4 5.7 8 speed with 3.55's. I still am very skeptical with the people saying they get 25 miles per gallon with these trucks. A 2wd tradesman short box regular cab with the 5.7 and 3.21's maybe, but the bigger trucks I can't believe.

I've gotten 25. But that's with wind on flat ground. I dont believe anybody is getting 25 regularly

Yeah, I can see this. I've seen 25 to 27 with a nice tailwind going 60 but I could never get that on any other occasion.

Yeah, I feel for you guys. I'm doing 12.8 on most good days. Of course that has everything to do with my lift, 37" tires, and the fact they are graps. When I can drop down to 35s I imagine it'll get better but it's the tradeoff I was happy to make...

my current economy screen is showing average 10.1L/100km which translates to 23.29mpg US. it has been going for about 2 weeks and 750km. this is mixed with probably 80% highway and 20% city with a average speed of 65km/h. all highway it shows 9.5L/100km which is 25.57mpg

it's worth noting i'm 100% stock but i do have the factory 20 inch rims which should help somewhat offset the 3.92 rear axle and give slightly better economy at highway speeds but will also hurt city driving. this is also with 87 gas. i do plan to add a aftermarket intake which should help a bit too
