That’s only what the bumper is rated for, do you have a trailer hitch?

Then you’ll need to buy a 2” hitch with the drop/rise and ball size you need. Just make sure to verify the weight capacity of the ball/hitch...a lot of them only go up to 600lb tongue/6000 lbs trailer.

Just remember when you buy that trailer, 1300lb. payload INCLUDES the tongue weight. Not a lot of wiggle room for people and gear. A 9000lb. trailer alone will almost max you out.

If your referring to this on your bumper, it clearly states that is bumper capacity only.
That is not the weight capacity for the factory Class IV receiver hitch under the bumper.IMG_20180321_160727336~2.jpg

If you have a factory 2in reciver it will handle what ever your max towing capacity is. Just know that ram suggests a WDH after 6k trailer weight.

The thing is, a lot of companies refer to a trailer that is NOT a gooseneck or NOT a 5th-wheel as a "bumper tow". This question comes up from time to time on other forums also. "Bumper tow" is a misnomer for "Hitch or receiver tow".

I wish they would remove the tow ball spot from bumpers if they are going to put a factory receiver in trucks these days anyway.

The trailer may be called a "bumper tow" or "tag along" but that doesn't mean it's actually towed from the bumper of the truck. Who would want to use the bumper anyways, it's usually too tall.
The factory receivers on these trucks are actually an option. The hole in the bumper is standard. It would be nice if they didn't put hole in the bumper

^ My point exactly!

Although, I haven't seen a half-ton truck or larger sold without a receiver in years. That's all I was saying.

Some Rental companies order them without the receiver.

Mine was a rental in a previous life and doesn't have a hitch. I have a ball in my bumper for the very rare time I need to move a small utility trailer. It is a little too tall but works for a shirt distance and in a pinch.

i cleaned all the mud off the plastic piece and saw that it was refering to the bumper ..hahaha .. hilarious ... never noticed that on my 14 laramie. .its definitely a class 4.. payload sucks i know.. i have a 4" lift and 35s so that wont help ethier . i am looking at a outdoors rv 23bks(5900lbs)looks like quite a off road unit ..A reese 800tw lbs wd hitch. . so that will make it 6000lbs .or a nash 25c(5700lbs)..i don't haul water with me so mabe another 4-500 lbs total in gear in the unit while traveling . i dont mind taking the unit to the spot then running out for food , booze and everything else . I think it will be tight but doable ..
thanks for all the responses ..
cheers

i will get bags eventually too. .

The TTs you mentioned will be fine my TT when loaded is approximately 7,500 the hitch weight is 750-800#. The OEM rear springs need help for sure actually I am going to replace mine. You have a lift so .....Depending on the spring rate of your lift springs they may be better load carriers than the marshmallow like OEM springs. Why I say that is previously I was towing this same trailer with a lifted 04 WJ overland. The springs were 4" lift IronRock springs the rears were their heavy duty option springs with a rate of 240 lbs/in, for comparison the OEM rear springs were 180 lbs/in.
