So my 2014 ram 2500 6.4 HEMI just threw a P0735 code. Anyone had this yet? I have 35755 miles.

I'm aware of what the code is. I'm asking if anyone else with the same or similar truck as me has had the same issue

You would likely get more/better responses if you explain what the code is in your post. People are unlikely to remember the number and more likely to remember the problem.

I don't recall reading about this problem before on the board. These new trucks are so high-tech that they are often more computer than mechanical instrument. I've had some strange things come and go before that don't turn out to be a problem. Having a reader to read and reset the codes can often save you a trip into the dealer. Similar to just rebooting your laptop when things go haywire.

Copy & Paste from another forum:

P0735 = Gear Ratio Error in 5th

Trans is slipping in 5th and 6th gears, likely due to a burned OD clutch. You will need to pull the trans, tear it at least partway down, and inspect / replace the OD clutch pack.

Not necessarily related, but I have heard the OD clutches in the 66RFE are not very robust. Hemifever even warned me not to dyno my truck in 4th due to the weak clutches in this trans:

But just a word of caution. I can't even count how many folks have a 4th gear transmission issue after a dyno session. Even though 4th is 1:1 and that shows the best power curve, these trucks have sucky 4th gear clutches. The factory limiter in the truck platform is 106 just because of the 4th gear issue. I'd recommend a 3rd gear dyno pull

Hope you trans isn't badly hurt or at least still under warranty.

Yeah it's not a drive ability issue.the code went away on its own.. I took it in to the dealer and they told me it was a quart Low on fluid. ( which I know it wasn't as I checked that first) I'm a vehicle mechanic for the Air Force and I might know a few things. However it came back a week later. And went away again. I just drove 450 miles to New Hampshire last night and it came on and had a slight slip on kick down into 5th up a hill ONE TIME. But no power loss. And I was getting 18 MPGs. At 65 mph

I haven't had any issues lol other than a hard down shift every now and again. I'm hoping the dealer can just fix it under the power train warranty

It kept slipping and throwing the P0735 code and then got worse from there. Till it finally just got stuck in 4th gear

Well Im up in New Hampshire on vacation. So I called the original dealer that I took it to and told them what was going on and I explained that the fluid is burnt up. The service manager told me that I have a sealed trans unit because it's a new 8 speed. So then I politely told him I'm a vehicle technician for the US Air Force and I kinda know my ****. It's a 66RFE 6 speed tranny with a dipstick on the passenger side of the engine bay. He was very apologetic. And he found me a dealer close to where I am and they hooked me up with a rental. I got a call from the dealer yesterday and they said my transmission was toasted. And they are replacing it with a brand new one under the power train warranty. Thankfully
