I almost got the PML pan but the MH pan came up on sale so I jumped on that. I'd be interested in seeing the differences...

I should be installing my Mag-Hytec pan next month along with the start of my Penzoil 5W-30 oci program from Gena .
Boy it's gonna feel strange pouring in something other than Redline , but the PUP is a fantastic oil .

Looks like your temps are on line with others like you

When your on your xsmn temp only page in your cluster , is it at the mid or normal range at 170° ? Or is it high ?

I've read some guys with the 8 speed xsmns ( with the xsmn oil heater ) get normal temps of 180 and over 200 with a good tow .
And it's been proven the special fluid is just normal fluid .

Do you still plan on running the C+ in the tranny?

Well she took 6 qts of C+ last night, and I must say, there is a bit of work getting the levels correct. No leaks and she's good to go, here is the temp after an hour drive on a SoCal freeway in bumper to bumper traffic.

I'll double check the fluid level again, when I get home from work tonight.

Side note: shifting seems a bit smoother with the new filters and the C+[emoji106]

So here's one for y'all.

I got home from work today and during the drive, had steady temps of 130 (bumper to bumper freeway traffic for about an hour). I pull into the driveway and put the truck in neutral to check the fluid level, and it was just above the cold-full dot. Am I crazy, or is that a low fluid condition for that temp.

I also put it in park, and the temp climbed to around 148ish. Put it back in neutral and it was still just above the cold-full dot.....anyone have a similar experience?

I kinda think I need to add a bit more C+.

You have 6 in now correct? Try adding 1/2 of a quart. Now that you mention this I seem to remember 6.5 quarts being the number of quarts the stock pan takes....

Yep, I filled it with 6. Although there was also some additional loss when I pulled both filters and as it sat there waiting for me to figure out what to do when the MH pan didn't want to go on[emoji15]. I don't think it was quite a quart.....may 1/4 to a 1/2.

Hmmmm, maybe a 1/2, to 3/4 qt low.

Or do you think the 130-140 temp range is considered "cold"?

I'd add fluid in 1/4 quart increments until it's reaches the middle between cold and full. That way if the temp goes up higher than it normally does it's not going to be too full. That's what I did seeing as mine runs cool.

Was thinking along the same lines. I certainly don't want to overfill, seeing as I don't have a drain plug.....yet[emoji3]

If you ever do overfill with or without the drain plug , you can run a small diameter tube with hand pump down the dip stick tube to adjust the level to right where you want it

I have a vacume pump that I actually used in the past to do a complete fluid change through the dip.stick tube , I plan to vacume mine out to reduce the mess when I finally install my Mag-Hytec pan .
