'97 2500 4x4 V-10

I'm new here and just asking a general question .... what is the consensus on 97 2500 V-10 AT 4x4's ? Looking really hard at one now with 125,000 mi that's really clean - I know the mileage will suck but not planning as a daily driver just a task oriented vehicle

Sounds like a badass truck if you don’t care about gas mileage. The only weak link there is probably the transmission. Got any pics of the one you’re looking at?

I have owned my 99 V10 4x4 since 2009.

It is a great engine. Mine is 5spd Manual and I just love it.

The only issues I have had is with the vacuum actuated CAD and I just locked it out.

235k on it. Love it.

Gas mileage is very similar to my 2015 6.4l. It does better than my 03 5.7l

I bought mine about a year I a half ago. 2001 4x4 v10 47re. Has 93k miles on it, 109k now. I really like it, gas mileage for me is steadily 10-11mpg. Figure at some point I’ll have some issue with the trans and cad, none yet though.

I did buy it, it's a 1999 though, so far I like the truck but MPG is severe - I will try to get a picture or two posted in the next couple of days

I'm in the mid-Willamette Valley, Halsey OREGON - Does anyone know of a reputable transmission shop in Lebanon, Eugene, Albany or Corvallis OREGON ?

Not the 4x4 but love my V10. A few issues but 22 years old I cant complain. I get about 12mpg but that's loaded or unloaded. Even when I pull my 40' 5th wheel I get around 10mpg. It's not gonna win any races but it will pull every car over the finish line.

I had one, great truck except for mileage, but then its a V10. Had an issue where it would start but under acceleration it would buck and backfire. Towed to dealer, who screwed around with it and declared bad engine. Sold it to a guy who troubleshot it for a couple weeks but then isolated it to the in tank fuel pump. Got it fixed and its still running around. I swore off Dodge/Crysler/whoever until I inherited the 2008 I now have.
