Amp Research Power Steps in the Extreme Cold

This will be my first winter in Alaska where it will be very common to see -40 degrees. Has anyone continued to use their Amp Power steps in these temperatures? I have the option of just unplugging them from the Vehicle port so they no longer extend and retract.
