Thinking of adding some cargo tie down rings located on 4 corners of my truck bed. Any recommendations of brand and type? Bolted or weld to the bed?

Your truck doesn't have die downs in each corner already?

I added 3,000lb D-rings in the front/center of my bed for better strapping down multiple dirtbikes at once. Definitely i would bolt rather then weld as you want some kind of backing plate to disperse the stress off one small section of your thin bed metal.

I stretched a length of plastic coated chain between the front and rear tiedowns and now can latch onto it at any location I want.

I have the ones on the floor of the bed. I want to add some on the middle of the bed wall near all 4 corners so I can strap things Luke coolers, 5 gallon water jugs etc when I go camping.

I was thinking this too, but isn't getting behind the bed a PITA for the backing plate? Unless I take off the bed that is.

I did a wood floor with aluminum box liner on one of my trucks and bolted D-Rings through the plywood I lined the nuts up centered between the ridges and they were surprisingly strong. I went treated plywood floor because the rubber mat kept warping from diesel.

I welded these up for my current truck. They provide 4 solid tie down down low as well as solid rails in the bed to tie to. The skeleton the fender well so they don't really cost any bed space.IMG_20171126_120427.jpg

Remove your rear wheel liners...its easy to do...

you can reach in there to put a backing plate... if you tie down anything serious, use a backing plate

Thanks for the reply guys. The backing plate thing is what I was searching for. I have a bunch of stainless U bolts from home depot. Looks like having that backing plate makes all the difference in support.

^^^ I had Bull Rings on my last truck (F150) and used these to strap in my quad, a Yamaha Grizzly 700. I thought they worked great.

They do move around a little in the stake pockets but they certainly never felt like they would come out and strapped my quad down tight.

Has anyone figured out how to put a tie-down of some kind in the center of the bed rails?
