I had my truck (2011 Ram 2500 6.7 auto, 166K miles) on ramps in my driveway working on an exhaust leak. I started it with the exhaust disconnected and backed it off the ramps, shut it off and the check engine light came on, a lot of codes came up. They will not clear, cannot clear check engine light. Anyone have any ideas where I should start?

Until all the sensors have been reconnected, codes won't clear. Also some of the emissions related codes take a certain number of drive cycles and/or time for the codes to be cleared.

Crash68 thank you for your reply. All sensors have been reconnected for close to four months, no change in the issue. The truck ran disconnected for less than a minute. Everything was reconnected and truck was started again, the codes all showed up. Truck has been driven just shy of 3,000 miles since this happened. The truck runs fine, only issue is the remote start will start truck but it will only idle for 10 seconds or so and shuts down. Check engine light is on, fuel economy is fine (16.4), power seems fine both towing and bobtail. I keep thinking this may self clear but no success so far.

Looks like one pending code left right now, along with two stored and five permanent codes. Pending is P02E9 intake air flow position sensor high. Truck still runs like new, no issues. I am thoroughly confused, any help where to go from here?

I have been thinking about getting the AlfaOBD program and needed hardware. Would that do better at diagnosing than a basic scanner? I am currently using a Zurich ZR13 that, for the money, seems to do pretty well.

AlfaOBD is usually capable of reading and resetting more codes than a typical reader. There are even testing and calibration modes that it can access also along with reading live engine data while it's running

looks like you got a wiring issue I would be back tracking where you was working that day on exhaust and check every harness near where you was at seeing that it came up after you done the work wires are broken or lost connection within its connector where ever that may be

RamRod37, thank you for the reply. Good idea, I will dig into it on a warmer day. I do not have a garage and am working on a gravel driveway.

GTyankee, thanks for a great resource. I bookmarked it for future issues. This supports RamRod37 saying to start with wiring. I really appreciate it.
