As we're all fully aware, the stock Duel headlights are pretty terrible. I've attempted multiple bulb options from Sylverstar Ultras (current) to Opt7 LED bulbs (great visibility, blinded EVERYONE).

I can't drop big money on a set of Retrofits from Jeremy, as much as I REALLY want to. I do have another set to do myself, but I'm not sure if that's the best option.

Would a DIY retrofit of my duels be best bang for buck, or can we all agree on a cheap aftermarket projector that isn't so bad? Even TYC replicas of the factory's seem expensive.

I've done Abit of searching, found a million threads on these, but didn't know if we had a combined conclusive result of what are the good buys?

I’ve done exactly what you’ve done with LEDs in the quad headlights, better than OEM but not great.

I’ve done a retrofit on them as well, super awesome, just time consuming and a little nerve racking separating the lense from headlight body. (Lots of time and about $200 in parts)

And I’ve come to a set of AlphaRex 2500 style projector headlights (about $4-500), which I’m very happy with.

I would probably go back to retros as output is absolutely amazing and the option for customization are off the chart, but I gotta save money for other mods and such.

I have attached pics of the retro lights and my current setup.

sorry no output from the AlphaRex, but they work great.

I’m also trying to get rid of the retros in the first 3 pics if anyone wants a set.

I am interested in this as well. Looking to upgrade my front look and as sexy as the alphrex nova and morimoto XB are, they are too expensive.

does eh alpha rex 2500 come with LED bulbs or do you have to replace the bulbs with LED after? once you replace with LEDs i assume you will have to also add the canbus decoder?

The AlphaRex are projectors, however, they work very well with LEDs. I have a set of Hikari’s which are CANBUS compatible.

If I want more output I could go with HID, but as you can see I have plenty of forward output from all the cubes (flood on hood, and spot beams in the bumper), so I’m ok for now.

Alpharex has the Two Projector housings as well that you can get for ~$400 which isn’t bad. If you put the proper LED bulbs in those I’m sure you have great performance and that updated look as well.

My buddy Zach, a member here as well, turned me on to the Alphas. I looked at their whole lineup and I really like the 5th gen 2500 styled lights so I went with them. What I also like about AlphaRex is that most, if not all, their headlights come as a black or chrome housing to fit you taste.

I, of course, chose black as my truck is essentially “2 tone” with flat black accents on the Granite Crystal Pearl. All that’s left is the wheels to swap.

I do apologise, I have quad headlights. I mis-spoke.

Alpharex seem Abit pricey, I feel like I can retrofit cheaper. maybe?

Care to show pictures, or provide a review of sorts?

Don’t have any pics ... I did Hi’s Lo’s and fogs ... I’ve only driven at night once with them since the install, and the output is great, and nobody flipped their brights at me, so that is good

Hey there. I have a 2017 Ram 1500. No projectors and separate bulbs for hi n low.
I just purchased a pair of headlights that run Hi/Low from a single H9 bulb. It says they’re plug n play. They r from razor motor. I bought off American trucks. They look awesome but I don’t know if they will work considering it’s going from 2 bulb to one. Any insight is helpful. Thanks.

@ GIJOE2010 How bright are the running light LEDs and start up sequence? I like the looks of that particular headlight and I LOVE how you've matched the look of the carpets with the drapes. Lol. Tge matching cubes really make the front end!
