Looks like Big Chrome Quad's , just sayin' :D

I used to run GTS tinted covers (front and rear) on mine to hide my hideous chrome lights

But the light output sucks, so I had JJ at the RetroShop help me out

I had pretty good results using VHT on my mirror puddle lamps and third brake light

Adapters are on the way from JJ for the new tails along with Fog HID's

Has anybody tried powder coating their stock sport rims?

I like the look of them just wish they were black. I've seen a lot of guys spray paint them but I want something a lot tougher

If they are the aluminum clad rums then u can't powder coat them aka chrome. Since is a chrome plastic insert they glue to a silver powdercoated rim.

Best bet is to buy a set of black rims

The New 13+ Sport Wheels most certainly CAN be powdercoated
They are not plastic chrome clad like the old pre 13' Sport wheels , they are solid aluminum wheels.

My buddy MGRAM did his wife's 14' Sport 6 months ago

$400 includes media blasting and powdercoat
(center insert is the only plastic part, stripped and hand painted/cleared)

and 14' sport wheels...

No More smoked GTS Covers :favorites13:

My 2014 express black out got a chrome rim upgrade and they certainly are chrome clad plastic on a silver powdercoaTed rim. Now can the chrome clad plastic be removed?

When Livinalittle posted :

He most certainly meant SPORT aluminum cast wheels,

...nobody said anything about crappy plastic chrome clad Express wheels

Perhaps you should take your own advice ...

Best bet is to buy a set of black rims

or do what many do, myself included up until I found Real 13+ Sport wheels
and hit them with plasti-dip :)

FYI...what the chrome clad wheels look like under the plastic clad

decladwheel.jpg

and what they look like powder coated

Why dodge even decided to slap plastic on those is beyond me.

Maybe ill yank my PLASTIC chrome off when it peels and yellows and blast them here at work then powdercoat them "winter rim" black. See if the black look grows on me ;)

Mopar did the chrome plastic because it won't pit and cause air leakage like the OEM Chrome aluminum wheels do. The plastic isn't affected and therefore the chrome stays longer without compromising the wheel. I wouldn't call them "crappy" as stated a few posts earlier but the only problem would be powder coating them. I could plasti dip mine but Everyone with a murdered out ram just blends in now…. nothing special about them anymore.
