Hey guys, recently got an '04 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi. Everything is stock as of now. I was thinking of getting new cold air intake, dual magnaflow exhaust out the back, and maybe a chip tuner. Im just trying to find some basic bolt on stuff i can swap out stock things for to give it a little more power without killing my mpgs. Any feedback as what to get, what not to get, and any ideas for me. Thanks

Welcome to RamForum. I would start off with an S&B cold air intake, Moe's Performance 85mm Ported Throttle Body, Magnaflow muffler, and Superchips Flashpaq tuner. This combo is going to help bring that big truck to life.

On the muffler, going true duals is overkill, so I would just go with a single in/dual out muffler if you are just going for the look.

i used to have a 2004 5.7l 2500. Pretty much everything performance wise for a 1500 will also work on your 2500. The things that are different are headers, suspension, wheels, axles, etc.

Wow! just stumbled across this again and thought id give a little update in the year+ thats gone by.

Well last november i drove it hard after putting premium in it for the first time and it mustve been either a shock to it or all the stars aligned, especially with the cold day, and it blew out my exhaust just behind the cat. So i went with a single in dual out exhaust. Unfortunately the guy used a flowmaster which im not thrilled about but itll do for now.
About a month later i got the s&b cai and it was amazing. Ofcourse it would be after doing the exhaust and having less back pressure
Then in the spring my tranny went so i had that rebuilt and really beefed up as well as a new TC. All was pretty good except my mechanic told me that its still wasnt acting right and said i needed to get a tuner to try and help fix the tranny pressure. A week later i had him do a custom tune and man did this thing light up.
Since then i threw just shy of 33's on it and havent had much money to do anything else.
The truck has about 130k on it now so ive been talking with my mechanic and weve concluded that were gonna do a full engine swap. Im going with a 6.1 hemi with a 6.4 crank, mild cam, forged internals, srt 8 manifolds (no headers for the 2500 qclb 4x4) and then to top it all off (my favorite part) a centrifugal supercharger from procharger. Guy said he knew id strap on more power so i built the tranny to handle it. Also gonna go with a full axle swap from the dana60/70 (front/back) to a 70/80 with 4.56 gears. Gave me a pretty good quote and i know he can make some mean engines too (building one for my fathers 69 dart).
Anyways, as promised, heres a pic as it stands todayImageUploadedByTapatalk1413563235.276246.jpg

Looks nice!
Nothing like a supercharger to give you a nice kick in the pants!
i have the 6.4 in my charger superbee and that engine is nice but the 6.1 is prolly better for supercharging.
As far a the tranny goes...it will certainly give out if its not beefed up. Good move!

Thats actually what i read about trannys handling over 500 ponies so i was super skeptical about putting out power numbers like that. When i spoke to him about it he said he knew i wouldnt stop lol. Hopefully itll handle the 700 hp this guy is predicting
