Hey all, I have 18 cc 2wd I have 8,000mi on it.I have had squeeling front brakes from 3,000 til now.I also can hear the calipers and pads binding when going slow in bumper to bumper traffic and in parking lots.I had it at dealer for first oil change told them they said nothing wrong?? Servise manager said if I am annoyed with it and noise to bring it back and they will change pads out.I took it back in this past Sat.and they had lead mech listen to it with me driving and said thats normal?? We went to head managerand i gave him an earfull.I have been a mech.gas/diesel truck most of my life so i gave him my thoughts and they said they will not change brakes unless FCA tells them to. They said they will ask FCA then get back with me.I am going to contact FCA also in the mean time.We will see how this plays out?? Any one else have brake noise and annoyance in city driving?? Thanks

I had brake noise when I bought mine. It went away a couple weeks ago. I've owned the truck for 2 months and it has 3500 miles on it. It was just a little intermittent squeal. So I want worried.

Sounds like he is waiting for approval from FCA. Pia, but I am betting they will take care of you.

Brake squeal is vibrating pads. Take the pads off chamfer the edges and alpply anti seize to the backs and slides. Usually cures it

Hey 1999 white C5 Coupe,It was a loose running board bracket. It would bang over bumpy roads. They said it was tight. The bolts were tight but the thread inserts in the rocker panel were threaded wrong. They said it would have to be sent to a body shop to cut out the inserts and reweld them in. I said no it dont and showed them the problem and I gave them the solution onb how to repair it.Like I said they are Dumber than a box of Rocks. Thank You

In my 40+ years of driving and vehicle ownership, I have found that many dealer mechanics in the past 10 years or so no longer know how to troubleshoot problems. Many are nothing more than computer code readers and parts’ replacers.

Many try to “beat the clock” and rush through a repair - which hurts the customer and causes problems.

Any dealership can sell you a new vehicle at a good price. An excellent service department (warranty or customer-pay) encourages repeat vehicle-purchase customers.

Hey 1999 White, You are so wright, there is no mechanics anymore like us people that have old school exp. They are for sure just computer code readers not mechanics.I my self have noticed this too.You hit the nail on the head with your thoughts. Thank You
