Motor recently went Kapoot in my 07 dodge ram I have a line on a 2004 motor but I know that they did not have MDS will this cause a problem with the swap or will I just need a tune afterwards I know you can put a 07 into a 04 but does it work vice versa?
What all will I need for this swap or am I better off finding a 07 MDS engine to put in

Assuming you have a 1500 and the 04 engine is from a 1500, yes it will drop in, same accessory drive, same EGR and will bolt to the trans. You may need to use your 07 sensors due to harness variations. You will need to turn MDS off in the tune, a simple handheld can do this. If you have a 2500 & the replacement engine is from a 1500 or vice versa, you will need to address EGR. All 04-08 1500 5.7's use EGR. All 03 & 04-08 2500/3500 5.7's did not.
