Finally got around to installing my catch can this morning. My throttle body looked fairly clean (only have 6500 miles on it). It took about 15 mins to install. The BT look is sweet under the hood.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1376397666.547625.jpg

mines in too ... it was a booger getting that hose to squeeze onto throttle body hose connection ... even with redneck grease (wd40).

I just bought (this past Tuesday) a 2012 Ram 1500 with a 4.7L. The first thing I am thinking of doing is adding a catch can. The truck already has 36k miles on it. Other than adding it now, is there anything I can do for any oil that has already gotten through? Or will it just burn off eventually.

I think the catch can is primarily for the Hemi engine, but I'm not 100% sure. Check with Matt from Moe's Performance and see what he recommends. You may not need to worry about it and spend that money on other mods!

You are going to have to fab up a mounting bracket for your 4.7 as nobody makes a 4.7 specific catch can kit. I do have a few 4.7 customers that have done this though, so I will try to dig up some pictures.

As far as cleaning out what's already in there, just remove the throttle body, clean the TB and as much of the intake manifold as you can. Then run some seafoam through the motor, and you will be fine.

Thanks. Since only a few people with 4.7 do it, would it even be worth it?

Only a few people have done it simple because nobody makes a bolt on kit. Most guys don't like to fab up parts...they just want to bolt on and go.

I would just pull your throttle body off and see how much oil is built up on the back of the blade. If you have much oil back there, then I would consider the catch can...otherwise, I would just save the trouble of having to fab up a secure mount. Do you have any plane to add any performance upgrades or a tuner?
