Not sure the audience for the Velocity channel show "Motorweek" but they did a little segment on engine deposits with newer engines and their lower friction rings. Talking about installing a catch can to help prevent it. Overall, seemed to recommend installing one if you're a spirited driver.

Finally OCC are getting a bit of National recognition
Sprited driver or not the 5.7L Hemi should have an oil catch can imo.
I drive my 14 5.7L 4x4 QC like a blue haired grandma most of the time ( I avg 20+ mpg Evic #s)

Check out all the crap ie. crankcase vented oil mist , condensation build up , carbon and unburnt fuel ( from our short skirted pistons ) that my Hemi **** out into my www.eliteengineeringusa.com OCC and not into my Clean Filtered Air intake plenum .
Aprox 4,000 miles .

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with my UPR catch can and what it is catching. I wish I installed it when I 1st got the truck. Lesson learned.

Is there a HOW TO about this?
Check out Moe's web site. They have a link to an install video. Took me more time to look up the video than to install my unit.... Well maybe not completely true but no more than 20 min from start to finish.

I to have had catch cans installed in the past. When living in the city I noticed my cc would collect by product but strangely on a 6500 mile trip when I went to empty it NOTHING. Now that my new truck will see 99.99% highway miles I have opted out as it will catch nothing but my dollars. I did notice Motorweek did not say gramp's driving types need a cc.

is it just as important for the 6.4???

its my understanding from others posting on this site that you can't add a catch can to the 6.4. if you can, I'd love to know so I can add one to mine!

2014 RAM Hemi rcsb 4x4 with approximately 10,000 miles before the 6500 mile trip. Like mentioned in the city I would see by product but on the highway nothing and on the 6500 miler I never exceeded 60mph coming or going. I must admit the 14 was a high mileage truck when I dumped it for the new R/T, the odo checked out at 18,000 miles. I have gotten rid of vehicles with as little as 2400 miles ranging up to 12,000, this included one with 5000 and multiple other in an around that number. How many miles will the R/T pile up before it is gone, I am guessing no more than 5000.:favorites13:

www.oilcatchcan.com

Go to the above site , it explains it better than I can .
Basically it catches the PCV discharge in a can before it enters your air intake .

PCV Positive Crankcase Vent . On the 5.7L Hemi the PCV is routed to the air intake . The 5.7L Hemi seems to vents more than most engines .
The oil crankcase vents pressurized oil mist , unburnt fuel and normal condensation accumulation through heating and cooling off of the engine . This is the last thing you want dumping into your filtered air & filtered fuel chamber .
Hope this helps !

Any impact on warranty? Impact on oil changes?
