Yes I dropped the Pan to get the pick-up Tube off / out! Not sure if it can be bent down and out of the way to clear the pump enough to get it out without Kinking/stressing the Tube as I didn't even Try...Dunno!. Because of my Mileage I decided to change the oil pan gasket/windage tray and wipe out /check for sludge in the Pan and also check the pick-up tube screen. It was a PIA because the pan only drops 3-4 inches at best, just enough to get your forearm hand in there to wrench out the nut (stubby) in the center underneath that attachs the pick-up tube to underside of the block / give a good wipe-out. Dropped the wrench at least once Too! You Need patients but it cleans up pretty good and the gasket/tray comes in/out pretty easy and no Messy RTV to worry about either. Hope this answers you're question!
