2019 RAM 2500. Cruise doesn't work over 85mph. Where I go it's a long way to everywhere. This is stupid. Have you ever driven across Texas? NEW Mexico? Oklahoma? Kansas? Drop the hammer and go. What's with this 85mph garbage? More control over us. Chip away. Little by little.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, driven lots of barren places, never thought to run cruise over 85 MPH...Interesting as Mr. Spock would have said....... Wonder if the folks who use AlphaOBD can change and make adjustment...................

COMMENT: Cruise on my MC works at 90 mph, have not gone ne faster than that with Cruise on the 3 wheeler...

ADDED: Drove work truck with cruise set at 95, but it was governed, 99 good, 100, derate and drop U back to 90 MPH on a 2014 F150 with 5.0 V8

Surprised they even let 7000 lb vehicles go 85, probably takes a mile to even get it going that fast!

I have driven across Texas. No, I have not thought of turning cruise control on at those speeds lol. I didn’t think anyone would.

I haven't driven across it but I've driven in it and have had cruise set above that a few times. It's awesome! Wish we had roads like that in the northeast.

That's slow for me, (If i were to speed). To bad the governor is 101 (So I've heard). Going across New Mexico I take the other vehicle. If I were to speed, and I am not saying I do, cruising speed would typically be in the 130 - 140 range. But, I will tell you it would be expensive. My lawyer would love me. It would just be part of the budget as far as I'm concerned. Pay to go fast and let somebody else work the details.

Not sure I would want to run cruise at that speed, would want full control of the truck.

It's not for everyone and it's good that not everyone does it. As long as you aren't sitting in the passing lane going slow and impeding traffic flow, go whatever speed you're comfortable with. My only beef with slower traffic is when that happens.

Don't feel like I'm losing very much control at those speeds, lets say at 75mph vs 85mph. Obviously yes you have less reaction time/more time and distance to come to a stop and all that jazz...but it's not like you're going 150+ or anything, 85 really isn't very crazy in any newer vehicle (except maybe a wrangler?).

Edit: Of course what the highway is like makes a big difference, Texas highways seem like they were built for higher speeds. We have some highways here in NY that are 55 and even going 10 over on them is pushing it (lots of twists and turns that would be unusual for most highways).

YUP< one road, toll down by Austin (130) Speed Limit is 85 mph, highest in state. BUT if U R on reg Interstate, Like I 35, I 10, I 20, I 30, U not gonna do 85 ne where. Way too much traffic for that. Maybe at 0400 hrs, but that green copy of your Citation gonna be ugly, LOL

I have gotten up to that speed (85 or a bit more) a few times on I 35, but ne body down here that knows that on I 35, not gonna last for long. And depending upon which time U hit Dallas or Austin Area, it might be faster if U pedaled a bike, just saying, why a lot of PPL use the Bypass Toll Roads, IMHO...

Back in like 1978, I got a ticket from NY State Trooper doing 77 mph in a 55 mph on I 87 by Lake Champlain. Dat puppy was expensive for me then, being military, LMAO....

Oh yeah it's not cheap here either! I had a problem with speeding tickets for my first 10-12 years of driving, or getting caught at least. Never have been in an accident or anything but always loved going faster than I was supposed to. I don't want to even start to calculate the money I've paid over those years in fines, surcharges, lawyers and defensive driving classes. It's been over 5 years since my last ticket at this point, but the last I knew our court surcharge was $85, so no matter what, you were at the very least going to pay that regardless of if you go to court or not. Pretty good chance it's gone up since then, probably over $100 now.

Then we have some "driver safety program" which should really be called "we need more money". In this program if you get enough points in a short enough time, in addition to paying all fines and surcharges etc, you also get to pay a yearly bill (from what I remember, I think it was around $200/yr) for 3 years to prove you're a safe driver! Of course there is always the threat of losing your license, but from what I've seen if you have enough money you can also basically just pay to keep it. And the real punishment is having to take the online 5 hour defensive driving class, or worse, going to one of the actual classes.

What a fun and wacky state!

That new highway down near Austin is with speed limit of 85. Would be nice to at least get another mile or two out of it. And, doesn't Montana or another Northwestern state have a few highways with "Speed Limit: Reasonable" signs posted? I guess RAM is siding with lower liability.

For the curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_in_the_United_States

I also drive on 85MPH roads and am annoyed by the limit. Is there a way to flash the ECU and get rid of this?

That can be changed in the computer, you may need to have the dealer to do that though.

I live less than a 1/4 mile from Toll 130 here in Austin. All I ever hear is racing. I take it at least 3 times a day.
