I was reading in a Challenger forum and a few people said that their dealer disabled their MDS when they asked them to. Some had to try a few dealers before they found one who would.

Has anybody been able to get their dealer to turn off MDS on their Ram?

Only time I've heard of MDS being disabled on a Ram is with a tuner. Hopefully someone chimes in otherwise!

Did they post how much it was?

They didn't say but I got the impression there was no charge. They may have just got the right guy in the right place at the right time...

If it was side work then maybe nothing but at the dealer it cost me $55 to have my truck flashed so my tow mirror signal lights would work and another friend was charged $75 to have the brake controller flashed to his Ram.

I would gladly pay it.

I have 14 with 8spd. I have found that if set the manual shift setting on 8 its shifts lil harder and does not allow it to go in MDS mode. Once I hit the highway, I just switch to auto and I have the best of both worlds.

MDS is based on oil PSI. Change the weight of your oil.

I asked the dealership to disable the MDS. They said it couldn't be done. Obviously that's not true since you can do it with a tuner. He was a nice guy, I don't think he was intentionally hiding anything. I was short on time so I didn't get into it. Perhaps next time I can explain it and try to talk him into it... Until then I will continue putting it in 6 w/ the gear selector like I've been doing since I bought the truck.

Just wondering what the benefits of disabling the MDS are.

For some people, usually those with aftermarket exhaust, it is annoying. It sounds like crap and the delay of acceleration is frustrating. Add to that the fact that when I turn it off via select shift for a week I see very little mpg loss, it seems unnecessary to me.

But... For every guy like me who hates it, there is another guy who thinks it's great, never sounds weird, is completely unobtrusive, and saves them tons of gas.

Different strokes I guess

Any updates from anyone else?

I drive in tow mode. No MDS and more aggressive shift points. But, i mostly do it for mds.
