Just curious what the difference is between these truck in terms of drive train.

JBA and American Racing make long tube headers for the 2500 now but they say they will only fit 06-08 hemi's and not 03-05 hemi's in the 2500 versions

What is different about them? Why wont they work?

I haven't been able to get an answer yet by calling them so I am hoping someone in here can chime in

I don't really know what the difference is, but here are a few things that could explain why. Hopefully someone can chime in and provide the real reason why.

The difference might not be in the engines themselves, but the change in clearance around the engine, not allowing for the headers to have enough space to be installed.

There could be a difference in the Bolting pattern to the heads as well if they have changed the heads on the newer models.

03 is the odd ball with having only one cat, where as 04+ have two cats. The headers bolt to the engine the same, but the Y pipe is different. With Long tubes you are fabricating the install so it is inter-changeable. The 2500 I believe uses a different engine mount and that can be a problem with some header installs.

After 05 on the 1500's ie. 06-08 the front suspension changed to some kinda spring deal vs the earlier torsion bars so potentially the same type of updates happened on the 2500 wrt the SFA set-up/arms etc dunno, but like Greg Said about the 03 (just did pacesetters as shorties are no longer readily available) some times have to improvise somewhat. You need to crawl under an 06 model and see how the underneath is set-up like then compare that to yours but best bet is to phone the actual company that makes them and they should be able to tell you why the no go! Headers being expensive you want them to clear and fit correctly so i feel your pain. Maybe the headers from 06 fit but no y-pipe available if so then you can have your cats fabbed on somewhere behind into a y then on to the muffler and being in NJ it would be easy to find a good shop to fab that up. Its just hard to imagine that they would change the mounts and that the clearance would be different. One company told me it was because of the torsion keys which I am almost positive the 2500 trucks did not have. I live in CT now actually and there is an exhaust shop not too far from me so I know if I could get the headers on they could do the rest for me no problem. If the headers fit I think I will go that route

TTI does make a long tube header for 03-05 2500 trucks. It's not listed anywhere so you will have to call them. Perhaps they can explain why.

around 900. It's stainless. Like I said just call them. I decided not to buy because of lack of reviews.
