Does Upgrade to OEM UConnect 3.0 from Radio 3.0 require dealership?

Edit: Subject line should say Uconnect 5.0.
I've seen various things about having to have head units flashed by dealers for a fee. If I replace my Tradesman's Radio 3.0 with a UConnect 5.0 is this a plug and play swap or will I need the dealership to make it work?

It's all plug and play. You will need to hook up a mirror with the microphone in it for the hands free Bluetooth to work for phone calls. Possibly only need a dealer to get you the unlock code for the new radio.
