Finally got around to the check engine light and I got a gas cap error and 1491 fan relay. My blower fan only comes on in high but I notice my truck randomly overheats too. Which fan woukd you guess this is a code for?

That Code shows Rad Fan Control Relay Circuit either the relay is bad or you may have a fan going out

That code is for the A/C condenser fan under the hood and not the blower motor under the dash. I'm sure your fuse is blown which would indicate that your fan is bad and needs replacement. This should not cause your truck to overheat though. Hope this helps.

Sorry RamRod but these trucks have a mechanical fan for the radiator and therefore can not throw a code due to no electrical components. They do have an electrical condenser fan that will throw this code since it is powered through a fan relay and fuse.

Yeah. I hate how misleading those sites can sometimes be. I know that Mojo appreciates all of our help! Take care.

Since this is just a work truck and AC is the least of my worries is there a way to just bypass it if it's bad? I can't get the truck inspected with the code

Sure enough a new fuse and a gas cap and no error code. Now I'm closer to inspection lol

As long as you don't use the A/C, you will not reset the code. If you do use the A/C then the fuse will blow again and the code will come back. What code did you fix with the gas cap?

If the cooling system is overworked and the compressor is building too much pressure it could cause slight overheating.
