Gas has air

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram1500 Sport 4x4 5.9. I went to put gas but when I took the cap off both air and fuel came out the filler tube . Has anyone else have this problem and what did you do to fix it ?

The vent tube coming out of your fuel tank is likely clogged. Bugs love to make nests in there. You can try running a piece of wire or coat hanger down it, see if you can break up anything that might be in there.

I blew air through all air lines and they are clean . I cleaned the evap leak detection filter , and charcoal filter and still have the problem

Is the fuel system on the 5.9 return style? You may have a leak somewhere and air is getting pumped into the fuel tank.

The fuel vapor isn't getting drawn into the charcoal canister to be burned by intake vacuum, you should not have vapors in the fuel tank, is there a purge valve in the system.

Yes 1999 With 5.9 return vacuum .
