gas mileage gone done since...

I put a new muffler on and since then my gas mileage has gone down. I was at 10mpg and has gone down to 9.5mpg since the new muffler. I don't drive far to work, 8 mile round trip and that's were I drive the truck, and that's it. Rarely on the freeway. Any ideas?
