(If this post is in the wrong place, please let me know)

This is a project I started a while back. Sometime in 2011 (it is now 2016), I was getting into fiberglassing, and had the idea to make some eyelids for my headlights... you know, make them look a bit agressive... I had the idea since before buying my truck back in 2008, and I actually made a photoshopped rendering of what I wanted even before I had the truck.
Finally got into it, and started the process... I got to the point where I sanded them, filled them with bondo, and then primered them... but that was it. They sat in a corner in my garage for a very long time...
After many years of just looking at them and not doing anything with them, I finally had them painter to color match my truck. That was about 4 months ago... Last weekend I finally decided to install them on my truck... so the following is what happened (Starting in 2011)

To start off, I made a Photoshop rendering of what I wanted... this is before owning my truck!
attachment.php

1st step was to take a picture of my headlight... I needed to have a before and one while taping, so the camera was mounted to a tripod and the 1st pic was taken.
attachment.php

2nd, was to wrap my headlights in tape, then in aluminum foil... I used aluminum duct tape in this case...

Continuation....

Then, I measured to create a grid...
attachment.php

attachment.php

And marked the grid...
attachment.php

At this point I took this pic, and took it back to my computer... A bit more photoshop would help me in deciding how I wanted my headlights, and to mark off the edge...
attachment.php

attachment.php

This is why I needed the camera at the same angle on the Before and on the grided pics...

...... More....

.... In Photoshop, this is what I did....

attachment.php

Pic of headlight as normal...

attachment.php

Pic of how far I wanted the eyebrow to go...

attachment.php

Picof grid, with photoshopped eyebrow layed ontop...

attachment.php

And finally, the eyelid faded out, to show the grid below... This is so I could tell where to mark the edge on the actual headlight...

.... See next post....

Based on my rendering, I marked off the area I wanted to turn into the eyelid, and proceded to fiberglass... A few layers was all that was needed...

Next was to dry fit them, and jump with joy after realizing they were looking great (The jumping part is not shown!)

.... I don't have pics of when I was cutting them, or of them after they were cut... But here they are with the final shape, and mounted on the Headlights... Still dry fitting them...

Then I sanded them, applied some bondo, sanded some more, and Primered them... This is how they looked dry fitted...

Yours looks good as well... I wanted something that looked like part of the body. thats why I did not paint them. How did you deal with the light leaks? Mine had some above and on the side, behind the edge of the headlights...

I painted them with the lights on so I could see if there were any leaks and paint them.
