Hi guys, looking for a 3rd gen 2500 with a 5.7 v8, dark color exterior and interior, with a manual transmission.

it has very low miles for it's year and the rust on the rear wheel wells is expected, but how about everything else.

any insight very much appreciated!

I don't see a leak.

Truck doesn't look bad minus the wheel well and light chassis rust. Looks like it might have see some occasional plow duty?

it very well might not be, i just want to question everything. if we're looking at the same pic, the transfer case/tranny meeting point. Looks moist?

i can post larger format pictures if need be

i know the truck has towing hitch, but i can't say about the plowing part. here's a pic of the front

any concern about the rust, though it doesn't look too far gone that i can't slap on some chassis saver.

also, i know it's hard to say for sure from the pics, but any idea on how much it would cost to get the wheel wells fixed at a body shop?

Ehh, it could be leaking. I've seen a lot of t-cases do that and they don't leak real bad. I know when mine was leaking it was dripping onto the ground. lol

I don't see a plow mount on the front of the truck, but that doesn't mean anything. Judging by the exterior picture, it seems to be in good shape minus the typical rust belt Dodge rust.

The fenders don't look too bad, likely can be saved without too much trouble, but the body shop is going to charge you an arm and a leg. Better off grinding it out and then bed lining the wheel wheels and rockers.

Not at all.
60k? That's great, but the rust is a huge set back.

what would be a good going price? or should the amount of rust steer me away?

i asked for more pics of the underside to see what exactly we're talking about here

with all the majority of rust in the front and the back not so bad...Can that be a sign it was used as a plow truck?

The rust on the driveshaft is what concerns me. It looks pitted. If you can find a good used one at a junk yard this truck may be a god deal. Other than that the other posters have hit the nail on the head for everything else.

i told the dealer my concerns that it might have served as a plow. of course he said there's no sign of it ever being a plow. he said he would paint the underside, but i'd be more keen on myself with chassis saver as opposed to who knows what being globbed on.

the carfax report says one owner all its life, but the owner is a commercial entity. most of its service seems to have been at a dealer as well. i tried to contact the dealer and get service records, but with all the privacy laws they were unable to tell me anything.

can anyone say a fair price?

I don't trust the Carfax reports, mine came back clean but when I took off the bumper to do the rollpan, you could tell that my truck had been in an accident.

I think I'd keep looking if you're hesitant :)

For the price and the rust I'd pass on that truck, more will show up. That DS looks nasty IMO, exhaust looks like its seen a better day to. Actually looks like where the pipe and muffler meet is rusted right through and cracked.

more pics. it's a shame really. for the mileage. i just think it was a company owned truck that was maintained (oil changes etc.) but parked and neglected.

I've seen 2nd gen Rams with less chassis rust than that thing has.

Pass on it.

i think i'm going to, i don't mind paying a little extra if it's something i really want, but to pay a premium on something that's in worse shape than my 15 year old jeep, i just can't justify it.

Thank you everyone for your help!
