Hemi 5.7L temp gauge goes up and then back down

Hi my 2005 ram 1500 hemi's temp gauge will creep up past half way and then go back down, won't over heat but I don't get heat in my cab either, anyone know why?

hey,
i am not expert ... but the first idea is ... "heating liquid" ... low level ... sometimes the liquid pass along your temp gage ... you detect the heat ... and there is no liquid in the heat exchanger ... had similar in a crap german car

I agree, check antifreeze level. If the rad and overflow tank were full, I'd say the thermostat was going bad and to change it before it gets stuck. But check the level of antifreeze. I'm a firm believer of "KISS" Keep It Simple Stupid"

If it's not low on coolant I'd suspect the water pump, especially if it's the original pump from the factory.
