Hey folks!

I had my Bilsteins installed at 2.1 and I do like the look. However, now I’m getting the itch to go to the next notch which is 2.8.

Can you fine folks with more mechanical experience chime in?

I had my truck in for an alignment after letting things settle and I spoke with the mechanic (which I trust completely) and asked him to see if he can adjust the ring while it’s on the truck. Figured maybe they had magic compressor or something. He called and said he couldn’t. So, he did the alignment and said things look pretty good under there.

So, could I possibly go 2.8 without those UCA’s everyone talks about lol? I’m kinda pissed I waited to install these because I figured id need $600 control arms and install etc I was looking at over $1000. This ended up costing me about $600 with parts, labour and alignment.

I don’t wanna get blasted for not installing the upgraded control arms ok guys lol. I don’t do any serious off-road and never will. Backroad fishing spots is as crazy as it gets here for me. I’ve been down the off road phase with my jeep and I couldn’t be bothered with the repairs and headaches. Especially on a DD.

Anyways, here are some pics for judgement

I have mine set at 2.8 and there just fine. Two plus years without any issues at all. I have the OEM upper control arms.

Thanks! In my unprofessional opinion they’re not needed to correct any angles but I could be wrong. It happened once I was wrong lol

looks like everyone else's at 2.1 from what I can see. 2.1 don't really require anything if you install the lower spring seat correctly or who ever did the the install .

Usually control arms are meant more for lift spacers due to the nature of the lift. They can extend the ball joint to far and pop it out of place. They’re still a good idea for any leveled application I’m currently running 3” of front lift on my truck with 35” tires.

Thanks! You didn’t have to remove your bumper just to take a pic for me! But I appreciate the effort lol

Wow that’s Sexy bumper. I LOVE the bumpers that expose the tires and that are more subtle and flat. What brand please ? Lol.

I am not a fan of those big chin bumpers. Makes the truck look like this guy....

Lmao. Yea I’m right there with you. I searched for over a year. Almost went full custom but this fit my needs. It’s a barricade HD from americantrucks.com
I didn’t want a tube bumper. Only thing this one isn’t winch compatible but I plan on adding a winch try to this one myself. There are a few they sell from this manufacturer that are winch compatible.

No need for a winch for this guy lol. I like the ADD brand too. Thanks for the info!

You CV angles look good as expected. If you don't to want to mess with the 5100 rings, just put a little 1/2" spacer on top of the struts and that should take you to 2.5"-2.8" dpending on what you're now. plus is a lot easier to install/remove than having to disassemble the 5100's. Do it yourself is easy and if you didn't want the height it's another breeze to remove it same way you added it.

What is your setup? I like how you thumbnail looks

Thanks!

Just 2.1. Stock rear. I didn’t change the UCA’s.

Tires are 33x12.5x17. Wheels pro comp 17X9 -6 offset

I will probably go 2.8 on the front and 1” in the rear at some point this summer tho
