I'm looking at purchasing a 2005 SRT-10 quad cab with 5k miles, yup, 5,000 miles. What should I be on the lookout with a truck that low in mileage? What kinda questions should I be asking?
First question should be how many passes it made down the strip. Next question should be how many sets of tires it's been through. With a quad cab I'd be less worried about severe drag racing but it's still a very strong possibility.
Look for modifications as well. With that low a mileage there probably isn't much in the way of maintenance records. One of the known issues with the 05-06 calipers is they sometimes lock up and either have to be rebuilt or replaced (almost $500 ea now).
I would change out the valve springs. I seen to many low mileage gen3 motors break them. Other known items are leaky oil cooler lines and calipers sticking due to old brake fluid.
