Hello All, This is my first post here and judging by the 108 pages you guys can answer my question I done the 8.4 upgrade in my truck and it worked fine, My question is i am now selling the kit on ebay and am wondering if the person that buys it will have any problems , i have been asked a few questions and to my knowledge shouldnt be a problem , should not require programming ?? The unlock code will still work for them ?? Thanks for any help

Same Unlock code will be needed for anyone that gets the radio. Indicate the year, model and PN of it. Also identify if the harnesses and modules/etc (if included) are for a 14-17 1500 (7 speed) or a 13-17 2500/3500 (4 speed fan).

Thanks , I did include the unlock code and the module is for the 7 speed fan so from 14-17, i need to update that , i put 2013, but i put in description for 7 speed fan only , Thanks for the knowledge

Does anyone know why my radio isn't seeing the update when I plug in a usb drive? ive tried multiple flash drives and I cant get the update screen to come up at all, all have been formatted in fat32. my 8.4 is a 2015 from what I know but I got it from infotainment so I don't have the vin of the original vehicle it came out of. Ill post pics of all the info off the radio too. My truck is a 2015 by the way. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you extract the files out of the zip? Cant just copy the zip file to the USB, need to extract the 5 files to it.

Format the USB FAT32 again and make sure theonly files on it look like this:

Yup I did. I turn on the truck and plug in the flash drive and it flashes but nothing happens.
They have to be directly on the flash drive and not in a folder right?

Yes, they should be at the root of the USB and the only files on it.

Also make sure nothing else is plugged into any ports in the truck.

Okay, that's what I thought. Ill try it again and update in a little bit.

Nothing still. I tried factory resetting the radio to see if it would make a difference and still nothing. The radio sees the usb though. when I go to media it shows up. When the radio was resetting it showed an srt logo while booting before it continued with resetting itself. maybe a clue as to what It came out of. Im at a loss lol.
Is there anything to change in the bcm settings to make the computer see that its the 8.4 sceen? Possibly a way to force it into an update? I don't think there was but you never know

What size USB key? FAT32 is one thing, Ive read some people have more success with older, smaller size drives (I personally had no issue with a 16GB on the 17.43.01 update)

The one ive used in the past with the old radio is a 8gb usb 2.0 one from imation. my other one is a new sandisk 64 gb but I repartitioned it to 30 GB so I wouldn't have to force format it to FAT32. Maybe im just unlucky and need to try another drive.

My guess is the partitioning is the issue.

Get one you can format a legit FAT32 and I bet it works.

Just did the update on mine. Didn't look like it saw the USB then I realized I never put the truck in Run... Had remote started it before I inserted the USB. So another thing to look out for.

Is there a software upgrade for a 2018 3500 8.4 4C NAV UAQ. The dealer told me I could enter my 2017 VIN and the hands free module would recognize I have a 2018 radio and would provide the correct update. When I do that I get a software upgrade, version Uconnect_VP4,18.45.01-My13-17. I am pretty confident that is for the 2017 radio no longer installed. If there is an upgrade, can someone provide a link for it.
