Jerking tranny when in neutral

I have owned this 1998 dodge 3500 for only a couple of months. This week end I started having trouble getting it into first gear. It would jump out of gear. Now when the truck is running in neutral it makes some noise and it jerks back and fourth. If you hold the clutch in the noise stops and it does not move. When driving it shifts just fine. Has this happened to any one? Thanks. Gordy.

How far in do you have to hold the clutch to s smooth it out?

I'm assuming you have the nv4500 HD? In which case the do have quite a few problems related to your symptoms...
