Sorry for all the questions. 2017 3500 Tradesman. Installing remote start today and was inside truck and noticed that key fob wasn’t locking/unlocking drivers door.

I’m wondering if it’s coincidence or if I accidentally knocked something loose. Although after buying the truck I noticed the drivers door pin wasn’t moving, figures it was still locking. So maybe it’s been like that all along lol.

Do I have to pull the door panel and see if I’ve got a broken wire somewhere?

I’ll add that a week ago I posted about hearing a clicking noise near left side of dash when pushing lock and unlock buttons on door. Almost sounds like a relay.

I wouldn't be suspecting a broken wire right off the bat. I would be leaning towards the door lock actuator. Easy way to test is to remove the door panel, grab a test light and make sure you have power going in to the driver door lock switch and power coming out of the switch. If you have power in and power out, go to the actuator and see if it is receiving power from the switch. If the door lock actuator is receiving power but not locking or unlocking the door it's time for a new one.

Finally got around to it, replaced the drivers side door lock actuator and all works. Thanks again for the help!

Got a new issue here. Now when I turn key off and open drivers door to get out, the door obviously unlocks but then locks itself right away. Is this an issue with the actuator or something electrical like a relay?

Luckily I have it setup to unlock all doors when I get out so it’s saved me from lockouts when I’m leaving the car running.

Hi there, we certainly understand how this would be an inconvenience! If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.
