I ordered up these new kick back mud flaps from Grizzly Trucks in Edmonton Alberta Canada and a new D ring hitch and lock from Amazon, can’t wait to get them installed soon. With the recent change to 20x9” +1 offset wheels and 35x12.5 tires I’m getting a lot more road crud up the sides of the truck and running boards, these are 14” wide, more than enough to cover the 12.5” wides. The hitch is partly for looks lol, but also to potentially help family members if they get stuck in the snow we’ve been getting lately, or maybe even myself sometime.

If anyone else is interested in the mud flaps, here’s that info:

The hitch (which comes in other Color’s also) is here:

AUTMATCH Shackle Hitch Receiver 2 Inch with 3/4" D Ring Shackle and 5/8" Trailer Hitch Lock Pin, 35,000 Lbs Break Strength, Heavy Duty Receiver Kit for Vehicle Recovery, Black & Gray https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B091BNWD95...t_i_JSF2E99ZJZ2ECVYCHCWH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Anyone install these kind of mud flaps? Any tips for the installation, things to do or avoid? Thanks for any tips.

They're a little, special looking IMO. Seems like you either run wide stuff and deal with the consequences, or you don't.

Those mudflaps don't come pre-drilled ready to install? They do look neat, don't think I've seen any others like that.

If you plan on leaving that shackle mount in the receiver all the time, be sure to lube the sides, and remove it every couple of months. If that gets corroded into the receiver you'll probably have to replace the receiver. There's no good way to cut and collapse a solid bar to get it out.
I have a shackle mount w/d-ring like the one you bought but from Curt that was about half the price and it sits next to my 30' ARB recovery strap. inside the cab. If you don't have them already buy a recovery strap and soft shackle also. Recovery straps are different from load straps as they designed to stretch which aids in pulling out another vehicle.

I have a tip for you mounting them. Use stainless bolts, large area washer (to go behind the wheel well lip) and nylock nuts.
Sheet metal screws will rip out of this thin sheet metal, especially if you get your mud flap caught between your tire and some other object while backing up.

They fit with 35” tires and zero rubbing, no cutting or altering your truck body, fender liners or anything. Works well and blocks all the road crud that comes up off the tires.

If you could prevent crud spraying up the sides of your truck why wouldn’t you want to fix that? How is everything so black and white as far as do this and/or deal with it? That’s fine if its your opinion and you don’t like how they look, I really don’t like how some trucks have super negative offset and 3/4 of the wheels and tires outside the fender well, but to each their own, you spent the money on that truck, do what you like. Who am I to say it’s dumb or ugly. I just wouldn’t do it, but that’s me.

Yeah they did not come pre-drilled and wasn’t super easy to install, I had some mistakes, lots of swearing but, I got them done. They aren’t perfect at the moment and I’ll alter and fix up a few small things but over all they work and stop the crud from coming up on the sides, running boards and mirrors.

I will be ordering some soft shackles and recovery straps soon to keep in the truck.

I also spray inside the receiver with Krown rust proofing, and the entire truck gets done (or will be) yearly. I’ll remove the hitch and clean it off and respray the receiver often to prevent corrosion and having it seize up.

Did you use 3M clear tape when you installed the Flaps ? If not, you might get dirt in between the flaps and fenders which will cause rust .

I think the DuraFlap set backs are pre-drilled for the Dodge fronts.
