Dodge (Ram) seems to love discontinuing popular models. Years ago the most popular small truck was a Dodge 2500 4x4, Cumins Diesel, 5-speed, EXTENDED CAB. So what did they do, they cancelled it and went to the six-pack cab (four door). I have no need for 4 doors but liked the extended cab. They also did away with locking hubs on a 4x4 and went to a hydraulic automatic locking hub system that has proven to be problematic. My truck has an aftermarket automatic system but I'm still thinking about going back to manual locking hubs. I have never had a problem with Warn locking hubs.

Just curious, who has a last year model 2022 regular cab short bed? Ram ended the classics production of the short bed according to my dealer. We are the minority now. Would love some pics and stories on why this truck?
I ordered a RCSB in hydro blue and it's been a great truck. 5.7 liter, 3.92 rear gears, 4wd, anti spin and pretty much every available option on a tradesman.. It's a fun truck and tows a boat really well.

Before long, Stellantis will shut down the Ram Gen 4 Assembly Plant in Warren , Michigan.
They will bring in new stamping plants, or at least molds.

Given a proper Tax Cut, they will move the Ram Heavy Duty Assembly Plant up to the Warren Plant.
It almost happened about 3 years ago, but Stellantis decided against it

:(

While Ram continues to be quiet about future production details, sources close to the situation have told MoparInsiders.com that it looks like Ram will produce its new REV pickup at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan. The facility currently produces the Jeep® Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer (WS), and Ram 1500 Classic (DS).

On the 2002 to 2005 Dodge RAM, if it came with the HEMI, the badge is on the front fender close to the headlamps.

Here is a pic of my 2005.

Ok. I was not aware of that. Thanks for the heads-up.

I had to correct my post.

The 2002 to 2005 RAM trucks were badged HEMI on the front of the front fenders and 2006 to 2008 were placed similarly to the 2009 and current 4th Gen. at the rear of the front fenders ...

Always like the hemi badge up front. It just worked for that body style. I remember when ram change the door badging from horizontal to vertical to allow company logos on the door. Not sure what year. Maybe 2013.

Custom ordered my '22 Express. This is the most fun-to-drive truck I've owned. Like the OP, I love the sport appearance that comes with the Express trim. I skipped the "express value package" in order to keep the vinyl seats and floor, as such I have to upgrade the wheels to 20s myself. The only thing I added on the inside was an upper glove box, which really finished up the interior nicely.

Beautiful truck!

I probably would have taken the same approach. Get the exact wheels you want, add anything else as needed. The "Ordering Packages" make it challenging to "get this" but "not that" sometimes. The basic radio system won't end up being a big glass brick 15-20 years from now.

Your truck is killer! 4x4? Hard to chew that $7000 adder. I like the glovebox. Was that hard to add?

Only thing missing on mine is the limit slip. I did not make the order though.

I think i would have bought this
at one time, they were thinking about this rendering as a Charger, it would have made a nice Dakota

Yes. $7000 for 4x4 was outrageous, by far the hardest part to justify.

It's not hard to add the upper glove box. Simply removing the lower glove box will give you access to unscrew the cubby and pull it straight out. All the mounting points required to install the upper glove box are already there.

I too have a 97 2500 Sport 4x4 with the 5.9. 57,000 miles. To me the 4 door trucks are simply SUV’s with a bed stuck on them. Will keep my truck till the wheels fall off.

(me too)

But it's funny, I've heard some people now say they think Regular Cab trucks look wierd. I guess it's whatever you like. Right?
