I got a left turn signal out message this morning on my way to work. Both the front and rear turn signals are working. The turn signal in my mirror is hyper-flashing. I have the projector headlights with led turns in the front and led brake/turn lights in the rear that the Laramies come with. The headlights have been retrofitted by Jeremy at Retroshop, but everything is working as it should. I have the non-tow mirrors and all four of the amber turn l.e.d.s (3 facing front 1 rear) are working along with the two white puddle l.e.d.s. I've been searching, but I haven't come across anything so far to point me in the right direction in what to look at. Any ideas?

You might have a bad resistor

I was the same as you,I put the power folding mirrors put on and got the codes from dealer to activate turn signal and puddle lights.I swapped headlights for projectors and got kit from Jeremy.Fitted the hids etc but i didn't bother putting the resistors on for the led turn signals, when using turn signals after maybe 20 seconds or more the hyper-flashing would start, same the mirror would hyper-flash.But after two weeks of driving it doesn't hyper-flash any more.It just stopped,Driving for a month now and everything is perfect, weird.I usually drive with fog lights and parking lights on.I was going to put resistors on to stop hyper flashing but no need to now.

Hi rgardjr,

If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer further assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

4.7L 3.55 axle ratio
Hello. New to forum. I have a question regarding my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 L 3.55 axle ratio. I just purchased a 23 ft travel trailer. Previously we had a 19 ft and our truck had no problem towing it. The old trailer was 3700 lbs fully loaded. New trailer is 4400 lbs without our gear. I am going to assume our gear will add another 400 and full tank of water another 400. That puts the trailer weight at 5200 lbs. our trucks towing weight max is 5800 lbs. I want to get your thought on changing the axle to 3.92 ( increases tow weight max to 7k). and adding a tran cooler. Also, another curveball. We live in the PNW. That means mountain passes. Out of pocketfor he mods is $3k. I know many of you will suggest upgrading the truck, but it is paid off and we really like her. What are your thoughts on the weight of the trailer and the mods I will be making. Also, our truck is used solely for towing. It is a third auto. Thanks for the feedback.

I heard back from Jeremy at Retroshop. Looks like it's probably a bad driver for the switchbacks. I can't say enough good things about the customer service that Jeremy provides. Hopefully the fix doesn't require the headlights to be completely opened back up.

If you have the led tail lights check those. Mines doing exactly same thing and there's actually 2 of the tiny little LEDs not lighting up and that's sending the error. When I first got the truck it was happening in the pass side and they had to replace the whole light assembly. Now that warranty is done it's happening on the driver side and they're not cheap.

It won’t you just have to take the dust cap off the back of the headlights and unplug the driver.

Also if that doesn’t work diode dynamics has special cancellers that they don’t sell on their website. I had the same exact issue on my last truck and once I tapped the 3 cancellers into the proper wires it corrected the hyper flash.

So my left turn signal works intermittently and I get the hyper flash on the mirror puddle light and the signal indicator on the gauge cluster. Then a msg saying left turn signal not working. That'll happen once or for days then my signal light will work and no hyper flash or error codes. Then it will work but throw that msg. I have a 16 ram limited 1500 and I changed out headlights for the black sport projectors along with recon tails and 3rd brake light. It's been at the dealership many times and they cant figure it out. They even switched out the BCM and it still does it. They're trying to say my aftermarket command start is the issue and I should take it out. I've had the command start for 2 years now and this issue just started. Anyone have any ideas or answers?

My 15 ram had the same issue and there was a single bulb in the DRL/amber signal light that was bad and would intermitently go out/come back on. Not sure what the cause of it is but when you get the error message pay close attention to the DRL bulbs. Hope this helps

And that was an issue on a projector headlight?

Did you have to take the headlight completely apart to get to the drl lights?

Yes it was a projector style headlight. Unfortunately unless you are handy with electrical and LED bulbs then there is no way to fix it besides change your whole headlight assembly.

I have the same issue. It started after dealer replaced headlight assembly with an aftermarket one. They sent me a new one thinking the headlight assembly was bad and its the same issue. Could this be because its an aftermarket headlight assembly. Will a factory one fix the issue?

It could be. Put your hazards and see if your mirror puddle lights have any burnt out leds in them. I just recently dod a set of diode dynamics switchbacks for a buddy who had an issue with is and once i was done he was still getting the message to find that his mirror light was corroded and needed to be changed as well
