Lesson Learned: Cheap Air Filter

While towing a 25 foot trailer the other day, up pops a message "Service Air Filter." What?! It's only 5 weeks old! The message would pop on when ever going down a hill at a low power setting. When I got home I checked the filter. See the Pictures. I got it on Amazon without a brand name. Never again

I just did my yearly Wix replacement, since last year the air filter has gone from 2 glue lines and expanded metal backing with an orange surround to this year is 3 glue lines and plastic backed with a black surround. Disappointed but the filter material seemed the same so on it went.

FYI word has it that recently Fleetguard no longer is making air filters for the 6.7, it was cheaper to contract it out to a 3rd party who make them to their specs

I had heard that was the plan when I 'retired' from Cummins in 2016.
