so you left the stock ones in front and ir sounds ok?
It sounds perfectly fine. I'm not 100% sure what the specs on the OEM speakers are, but the Kicker components are notably louder and probably have a much higher sensitivity rating. I really do not care much about the sound-stage coming from down by my legs anyway...I let the dash speakers provide the directional highs. The rear 6x9's provide sufficient bass and mid to fill the area.
I may get a wild hair up my rear and replace the front door speakers one day...but for now I'm more than pleased with replacing the 4.
May I ask why you went with a 2 way 6x9 instead of the CS 3 ways? I put in ALL kicker CS series in my truck recently (wrote a review on the audio page here) 6x9 rear doors, 6.5" front doors, 3.5" dash and I am VERY happy
I went with the KS series because I prefer a silk dome tweeter to metal or PEI. They have a softer sound to them and that helps out a ton with typically overly harsh highs in most automotive speakers. The KS speakers also feature neodymium magnets in the tweeters and rubber surrounds vs the foam of the CS/DS series.
When I added the rear 6x9's, I chose to stick with the KS series for proper timbre matching. When comparing the 2 way to the three way...there's not much "3-way" going on there. In the KS series, the mid is a 1" driver, the high is a 3/4". You're not getting much mid from a 1". I feel a 6x9 mated to a 1" will do a better job than putting another false mid in the mix. Hell, my B&W home speakers are a 1" mated to a 6.5" driver and they are amazing.
All in all, this is car audio...so I do not expect a ton for my $160. With that said, I am more than pleased what the notable upgrade I got.
