Today I noticed a loud sound from my exhaust, sounded a lot like rushing air, coming from my engine/exhaust during acceleration. I haven't really had a chance to look at anything because it's late now but I was wondering if anyone had any guesses. I'm thinking some sort of exhaust leak.

If it's coming from your engine area, check your air box and tubes. They can cause that kind of sound under heavy acceleration if not secured closed properly

Check the exhaust system for leaks. A leak aimed down at the ground will sound like that.

Seems to be intermittent. Listened for it in multiple places and couldnt exactly pinpoint it.

if its a minor exhaust leak, chances are youll only hear it when the engine is under load. Get yourself a 3-5 foot piece of hose or flexible tubing - put one end in your ear and run the other end along the edges of the manifold and along any joints (while the truck is running). If theres a leak, youll for sure hear it this way.

Sounds like you need a new cat and maybe a louder muffler. :D

I am unfamiliar with this adjective.

But I certainly hope you ran your O2 sensors properly if you ran true duals.

yeah about those. kinda just clipped them for now. im gonna weld them back in when it warms up. i also have a small exhaust leak to fix. its mainly just a temporary deal till i get my headers. hopefully these will fit with the transfer case. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/psm-70-2213/overview/

You what?
Please don't tell me you futzed with the actual truck-side wiring on either the pre-cat or post-cat O2 sensors? Because if you did, you're gonna be up ****creek without a paddle when it comes time to get that working again. Besides, you NEED your pre-cat O2s in your exhaust to keep everything working. Your truck will throw a CEL and the PCM will DUMP fuel into the engine because it thinks that the O2 sensor is reading lean, when, in fact, there isn't even one there.

If you have no pre-cat O2 in there, you need to get one in there in an H-pipe ASAP.

And the headers will fit.

Exactly what I told you: the PCM is dumping fuel. You're probably getting 5 mpg and are fouling spark plugs.

I find that surprising. lol

Then again, I'm the same guy that gets 9 in town on a good day. :uhoh2:

Gapped up? IE increased the plug gap?

For removing the manifolds, soak the hell out of the bolts/studs, wire brush them, and have the fixin's on hand for an acetone/ATF rust penetrant

yeah i increased the gap size from .040 to .050 and seem to help a bit but im still way too rich. but yeah thats kinda what i had planned for the manifolds. i have heard that hydrogen peroxide works damn good on them too. any thoughts on that?
