Hey, gdawg, did your shop install it with an extension on the inlet side as another poster on this side did? I assume the point of that was to get the muffler as far back as possible to help eliminate drone. I have no idea if this affects sound, but since I'm planning on an XS swap, I thought I'd ask!

I have Borla Pro-XS mufflers on my 4.7 Dakota with an X pipe and it sounds awesome.

No extension on the inlet side....he put the extra pipe behind the muffler. I had the original cut out and magnaflow put on. He added the extra piping behind the MF (exit side) so that's what he used when he installed the Borla.

FYI....I used PN 40349 (3" in/2.5" out) per my muffler shop's request. He said it was easier for him to connect the 2.5" outlet vs the 2 1/4" outlet.

I wonder why it was easier? The OE tailpipes are 2.25" OD.

Don't know for sure. I called and asked him which he preferred and he told me to get the 2.5" exit as it would make it easier for him to connect. I'm sure the 2.25" would have been fine, but I went with his recommendation.

Just picked this up. Gonna be adding it to my exhaust with long tubes, catless mids and no resonators with moes 5” tips. Can’t wait to hear it

So what long tubes are you going with, TX? While I probably won't go with your setup, I'm curious about it...I bet it'll sound quite mean!

BTW, I, too, just picked up a 40349 and won't get it installed on my '16 Reb fast enough!

I’m already running the longtubes. They are 1 3/4 jba longtubes with catless mids. I cut off the resonators and have already added moes tips. Sounds good with the 14 inch magnaflow I have but raspy. Moes suggested the borla for the current setup I’m running

I don't have all your upgrades, just did a muffler swap between the 14" MF and the Borla. To my ears the Borla sounds almost as loud with a slightly deeper tone....no rasp. I really like it compared to the MF....best part, no drone. I have Moe's 5" tips and I think that deepened the tone a little more.

After my long tube install, my magnaflow tends to be annoying with the drone. Love how it sounds outside of the truck just not inside.
