Looking at putting this MaxTrac K882445 - Shop RealTruck.com 4.5 spindle kit on my 2014 Ram Expess 2WD. Considering my options on tires.. Anyone have this set up with 33s? ( aren't factory 20s and tires almost 33inches) or would 35s be good to go.

Factory 20s come with 33s. I would definitely go with a 35s or your truck with look like the huge guy at the gym with chicken legs lol.

However if you have factory rims you will need a spacer.

I think the best two options are 295/65r20 with a +1 or -12 wheel or 35x12.5x20 with a -12 wheel.

hey there I would just like to let you guys know that factory wheels will work without a spacer and our 4.5" spindles clear a 35" tire no problem. There is actually a gentleman on here that posted pictures of his truck running just our 4.5" spindles up front, our 3" rear kit on factory 20" wheels with some 325-60-20 tires and he said everything cleared just fine, no rubbing, no spacers and no trimming. If you go with aftermarket wheels as long as you stick with a 9" wide wheel then the +1 or even the -12 will work. Just depends on how far out you want your tires to sit. Our spindles will work with up to 5.5" backspacing. If it were me i would run the +1 offset which is a 5" backspacing. Not too far out and not too sucked in. Plus better clearance on 35's but both will work you may just have to trim more with the -12mm. Hope this info helps! Thank you for the support!

Care to share who pulled this lift off with stock wheels and 35s? Been wanting to do this but too little info out there about it right now. Thanks

I am not too sure who the gentleman with this vehicle is but this truck has just our 4.5" kit on with stock 20" wheels on 35" tires.

*If this is your truck thank you very much for the images and information regarding our kit fitment with stock wheels on 35's. We greatly appreciate the pictures and feedback!*

I would say 35x12.5's also or the 295/65's. I went with some federal 35x12.5's and ballistic wheels because I just don't like stock wheels. They actually ride pretty good. They will clear on stock wheels without a spacer on a 2wd because the spindle pushes the front wheels out 1". So it would be like adding a 1" spacer to stock wheels on a 4wd.
I used the 4.5" spindle with 3" coil kit on my 14.

Totally understandable. What other information are you looking for brother? I will see if I can help you out. Are you looking for feedback from people running our spindles on stock wheels? If so, I can make a post/thread asking about it? I know there are quite a few guys running stockies with our kit so I'm sure they can chime in with some answers. Let me know and I will do my best to get you the answers you are looking for. Thanks again! -- Sean

Oh Sean I wasnt expecting you to DO anything about it but thanks... Sorry if it came across like that! I was just expecting to keep looking for more confirmation as it happens. I understand with all the vehicles/ versions etc its tough to find someone with the same exact setup. A thread with 2wd trucks with your spindles would be awesome to compare all the tire options for stocks and others but theres not many of us. I dont even think you guys have instructions listed for 2wd yet...

My situation is that my truck sits 2" lower in the front so first I just wanted to level it but I dont want to use coil spacers. This lead me to spindles which was nice because I would like to upsize my tires but no definitive info on tire sizes makes me pause.

Then some local CST dealers all say I cant use my stocks with their 4" lifts and I'm not really into buying new wheels. There are no decent maxxtrac dealers in my area so here I sit.

Okay so if your vehicle has 2" of rake and you install our 4.5" spindles up front you will need 2.5" of lift in the rear to make it level. We only offer either a 1.5" rear spacer or we have a 3" rear box kit which includes the 3" lift coils, trac bar bracket, sway bar drop brackets & longer rear shocks. So you can either do 4.5"/1.5" or 4.5"/3". You can 100% run up to a 35" tall tire with no clearance issues on your factory wheels no spacers, no wheel adapters and little to no trimming of the plastics. I know that these will clear because we have had quite a few customers run our 4.5" spindles/kit with the stock 17's, 18's & 20's with no issues. As far as CST spindles go I have no idea what specifications they call for regarding fitment. I know they make an incredible product in general but I have no idea about what wheel and tire fitment works with their 4" Ram 1500 2wd spindle. Call these guys here for pricing and ordering. They know are parts well, have great pricing, great customer service and will be able to take care of you with any questions you may have. They sell CST as well so if you want info on that companies product they can help you out with that. The shop is Suspension Specialists and their phone number is 714-632-8400. Let them know that you are a RamForum member and Sean from Maxtrac sent you over. They will hook you up and give you any info you need. They have sold and installed dozens of our Ram spindles so that is why i recommend you talk to them. Please call me at the office or email me if you have any questions. My phone number is 714-630-0363 and my email is " [email protected] ". Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the kit, whichever road you choose to take. -- Sean

Thanks a bunch Sean. I have leave coming up for 3 weeks Id love to get this done during this time. I'll reach out to you regardless. Thank you.

Any further confirmation on max tire size for 2wd 2012 Laramie 5.7 and CC with the maxtrac 4.5 from anyone else here would be welcomed!

I'm running 35s Mickey thompson mts 35x12.50 r 20s on my stock 20s with the maxtrac spindles and at first didn't think they would clear the spindle...its tight because of the nobs on the sides of the tires but clears..barely.. so if you went with a bfg or toyo tire with less of an aggressive side wall it would give you more clearance...but it will fit...as far as running 37s I feel you would need a 1.5 spacer so you don't rub the front bumper

Two major sizes would be a 35x12.5 like I have or also the 295/65's which are a few 1/10's narrower than a 12.5 but 35.2" tall in most brands. Stock wheels will clear on either sized. Also i looked into CST their spindles push the wheels out about the same amount so it's not really a difference except the price. CST doesn't make a lighter spindle now but it costs almost as much as my entire maxtrac Kit. Their were no local shops here most sell and install CST. We just did it at my friends Midas. It's just bolting up parts it's not like a 4 Wd lift that requires some modifications. CST makes nice products also but to me they are overpriced. I talked to a local shop about doing a CST spindle and rear spacer and it was going to be over $1k more with install. Also I got my setup from Suspension Specialist Sean mentioned as they sell the kits on ebay for $850 with the 3" rear kit. If you want a spacer instead you could just get the front spindle from maxtrac and just get some cheap spacers and longer rear shocks. My setup sits almost level even though the rake looks bigger in picks but it's less than 1" different. About 3/4" or so higher out back. Any shop with suspension exp can install the kit. I mean it's only a front spindle swap no different than having a stock one replaced you just have to use the longer break lines that come in the kit. I met a guy with a CST kit and he even said he would have went with my setup for the price difference. His did ride a little better since he had AT tires and all Bilstein shocks which is a upgrade I didn't see a need for unless I have doing the 7" lift and 37's which maybe getting some of I keep this truck but I am considering a 15 a
CC or QC Ram and doing a 7" with 37's on it.

4.5" spindle 3" rear coil

Just got my 4.5" spindle and 3" coil installed today, Sean was super helpful in getting the details worked out. Works fine on stock 20x9 rims and actually looks really good with the stock 33s. I plan to get some A/T 34-35s soon, but for now love the looks and love the ride!
