So less then a week my tubes plastidip was getting scratched off so I went through hell to get all the dip off and monstalined them. I'll post some pics and an intro, and in a second post I will discuss the pros and cons of both for those who might be interested, as well as some tips if you monsta line something. I took a lot of photo's so guys will really get an idea what this stuff looks like before choosing it. The colored version of monsta liner is much more popular then black for exterior surfaces, so if you are thinking of a colored monsta just go for it, they always look nice. The black is real black, but gets matte overtime just like LineX.

I did some of my trailer as well, I painted the wheel wells with a brush for fun so you can see both textured roller look or brushed on. You can spray monsta as well, but even that adds texture. Monsta is no good for a smooth look, one weakness if you want the powdered coat look like plstidip can give you.

I would remove that **** from your truck asap. Looks fine on a trailer.

It's not for everyone :)

So bottom line in the looks department will go to plasti dip and cost as well. Furthermore I don't think I would use Monsta on wheels. Plus, you can fit in with teenagers in their Honda's with the dip crowd:) But in my opinion monsta is better across the board as an option for our trucks. I'm getting older and have a lot of stuff to do. Removing plasti was a pain for me, this I wont have to worry about in the future. I hate the chrome, so for me this is better by a lot. I have used this before as well, it will get a matte finish, and google the colors the colors look very good from jump.

Burla's tips for Monstaliner

Don't apply in the wind, long story don't do it.

You can use included sponge for texture where rollers don't reach, cut the sponge in many pieces before starting.

Buy many rollers with your liner 4 per quart, 8 for a gallon better too have too many then too little.

split your batches, even the quart which means you will split your activator as well.

do 4 thin layers, to layer let first layer dry can do two layers dried with one mixed batch and plan on doing layers the next day

play with the rollers so you know how they go together prior to starting, the second you see the roller coming apart, change.

Monsta is very forgiving, it is only after many days it will be hard to remove. You can use acetone no problem for up to 24 hours to remove from truck paint. Use a razor to cut liner before talking it off overbrushed areas.

after a layer dries, you can peel off any rough or high points before next layer no problem. But this is a thick product, it will drip if you don't watch it. it is better to do small projects until you are familiar with it.

I'm sorry but that looks horrible imho... The texture just ruins the look for me.

Dip isn't meant for high contact areas like step bars. It would have been fine on the bumper if you applied it correctly(assuming you didn't since it didn't peel off in one piece).

That is exactly why I posted, not to say hey look at me this looks great, but rather to show guys what monsta will look like for guys considering it. This ugly chiet suits me to the bone, but that's my opinion. In a couple weeks it looks just like LineX, which guys also don't like except in their bed.

Let it be known I aint the fresh prince of bel air, this is what my tubes look like most of the time. I haul loads every week and this truck is used at my sky ranch for all the work needed. We order our hair cuts number 2 out here because we don't have the time or inclination to brush it. Plasti dip aint cutting it.

I'm gonna LineX some flares and they better not look like that. That looks like some cheap ass **** on an otherwise nice truck.

Got me. I think they both are good stuff.

I just personally would use them only for the bed or jeep parts(flares, tub...)

I don't know if you put it on too thick or what, but it looks real amateur compared to those two.

Monstaliner has a cult following at the jeep forum. Literally the most popular bedliner for sure, Over there LineX is barely mentioned, but I do myself prefer linex. When I started the job 15 minutes in and the wind was over 20mph, it did mess up the job. Part of living on a hill, wind happens. Kept pushing the product around, that was why tip number one was to avoid wind. I have another coat so I can go back and put smaller texture back for the 4 coat, will take a look tomorrow.
