Are you keeping it black or changing color

I like the black, it's really grown on me.

So busy day, pulled the front clip off the donar truck, then seats, dash and box. We were going to lift the cab off but ran out of wire for the welder so fired up the grill and called it quits for now.

Dog photobomb! Again. Idk if dash removal has been covered here, but its not too bad. The seats have to come out, and carpet pulled back to disconnect wiring from airbag module under jump seat area. There are three bolts on each side at a-piller, two up by the windshield and two at the base of the center stack. The column has to come out, as does the brake pedal assembly, then unplug all the connectors, lift up and out to unhook off the a-piller. Everything comes out in one piece, as shown below.

Hard to lift these cabs. Straps underneath bend the rockers, and you can't lift by the roof either. I welded some brackets up, which kinda worked but was front heavy and wouldn't lift level. So used the back bracket (which bolted to the rear seat belt holes) and ran the straps from the front pillar and over A pillars. Worked like a charm, cab is off the donar and onto the 4x4 frame. We hung the doors, used the less bent driver door for now. Paint guy called, parts are ready so things are starting to come together.

Hung the new door, paint guy put the bed on today for me. Replaced all the left front suspension last nite, so it runs and drives at this point again. Sundays are the only day I really have time for projects, will try to wrap it up and have some final pics then. Should have everything needed to finish, can't wait to get it on the road! Deer season is right around the corner...

Been tardy updating, done for over a week now. Have a few finishing touches to take care of like the door and Fender badges and hooking up the ram box lights but she runs pretty good. Have over 500 miles on it and really like it so far. Here are some pics and how it turned out!

Turned out excellent, congrats. What did a project like this cost?

Wow, nice work! It looks like a brand new truck. Also interested in your final cost.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I won't know final cost until done parting out the donor, so will have to check back. Truth is I bought on accident, was waiting on a Z-28 and this one came thru with nobody bidding. I threw a bid out to get things rolling and pretty much stole it, which is rare with these auctions.
Salvage cars are tricky, there are a lot of costs for fees, shipping, tax, etc., plus hidden damage and cars showing up different than the pictures, etc.. If it's something you want to try I suggest being careful. I know a lot of people who have ended upside down on their projects.

I'm curious as to how much money you spent on parts and how much the truck was as a salvage? If you do not mind answering.
